see it as some 80s cheesy movie
my thought process for most of the album was this sounds like the soundtrack to some lame coming of age movie
Hero is their catchiest hook since Pork & Beans
king
that’s on @deepsleep too he loves it
really hoping for some update on the album soon bc that song got me hella hyped
love the bridge with the solo shredding mixed with the harmonies behind, best of both weezers world

Yeah they balanced everything on this. The first single was too 80's and not melodic enough

exactly lmao
apparently at some point rivers did some followup album that he shelved that some producer working on it described as like some kid on a bike enjoying a slurpee (this lost album is now referred as the slurpee album bc of that) thank god he shelved it tho

tbh i didn’t like it at first but it heavily grew on me, kinda sounds like a white b side in some way, once u take in the 80s over the top concept of it n not expecting some serious emotional weezer its easier to take the song for what it is and a good ride!
love the video with the alien tho 👽
Hurley was ass. Ruling Me is amazing though and I wish it would have been on Pacific Daydream (where it fits perfectly)

🍌 COVER OF THE DAY 🍌

a clip of weezer’s guitarist Brian Bell and drummer Patrick Wilson cover “Heroine” by Velvet Underground for the 2006 biopic "Factory Girl" - about Edie Sedgwick, known for her link to Andy Warhol and that whole scene.
Unfortunately the full cover remains to this day unreleased, this clip is probably the best we will ever get from it and it’s a shame, it sounds great.
Brian Bell:
My reservation going into this was that no matter how good it turned out, criticism would soon follow, you can’t attempt a rock classic (especially a cult band like the Velvets) and not get a few sneers. But the important thing here is that maybe we might help turn a new generation on to this amazing art rock band and change the perspectives of a few unknowing listeners.
But thankfully there’s more to this story as Brian Bell and Patrick Wilson both shot cameos for the movie respectively as Lou Reed and John Cale, here are the scenes they appear in:

Brian Bell as Lou Reed (left), Meredith Ostrum as Nico (middle) and Patrick Wilson as John Cale (right)

not convincing resemblances but it was for a quick cameo shot in the dark so heh:

fun fact Hayden Christensen plays Bob Dylan in it.
shout out @Cookies @RVI @Kaiser @passing_the_time

HAHA yes my current banner now 🤗 it’s not the best wavves album but it’s underrated and a personal favorite, that song alone is prolly my fav by them tbh but the more go to wavves albums are def king of the beach and afraid of heights are classic (the second is very nevermind inspired)
they big on weezer, that’s why i post it here n because it’s samey, they did a single release w them, weezer had a white song left over on one side of the vinyl for it and the other side is wavves covering a pinkerton b side
if you played gta v (who didn’t) you mustve heard them they did n original song for it that’s featured on one of the rock radio:

blassic
also his gf way back from high school he been off n on with is bethany cosentino from best coast don’t know if you’ve heard of her band it’s some good moods too

(unfortunately they seem to be in a serious break up rn and nathan more alcoholic than ever, am worried)
she ALSO worked with weezer she is featured on a song on “everything will be alright in the end”
@Jerry_Seinfeld @passing_the_time you guys know who of these two bands ^ ?

that best coast song - all of the first album is in that style
⬜️ SONG OF THE DAY ⬜️
And all that nervous laughter
When you say what you hate
Makes me feel kinda great
It’s beautiful to me

this white album deluxe bonus song was first and originally used as a split 7’ single with wavves for their independent label, one side an original new exclusive weezer and on the other wavves covering “you gave your love to me softly”:
this is one of the most traditional sounding weezer song on white or in years overall, the melodies and the beach boys harmonies glued to distorted guitars is instant classic, it works so good id switch it over some white album standard track song! but it would maybe make the white sound too blue-ish? still a great song is a great song either way
you would love this @Womanpuncher69 let that be the song to wash away the raditude taste!
@based4life did you ever got around to check this album out?
hold up!

weezer.lnk.to/heropianoversion

it’s similar to that fallon performance same arrangement with the bridge classical breakdown, nice to get studio version of a take of the song that seem to indicate what ok human will dive more into
i think there’s more harmonies on this during the chorus, the beach boys always there on rivers mind
