These arguments can be silly, but to play devils advocate, is bringing up longevity/consistency really that crazy? People do judge the legends on that, like I put Scarface over Ice Cube because he was able to sustain for longer and has more great albums, even though if I were to put the best 3 albums from both against each other it would be pretty hard
That user isn’t saying it in bad faith I think, it can be a legit point
honestly don’t even reply to me in here no more lmao, i just saw a nigga say he would take future’s discog over Kendrick’s in here and im trying to avoid catching a ban
yall enjoy
It’s just the truth. Yes Kendrick is more consistent but man barely outside. It’s like rewarding someone for always hitting a bullseye 🎯 but he takes 3-5 years off everytime . And taking points off the guy who shows up every year

idk where this 3-5 years “every time” narrative is coming from, if he takes another 5 year gap then i can see it
The one mood drake doesn’t have a song for: being an adult with an IQ above 80
There are a handful of Drake albums that I would say are pretty good, whereas Kendrick has a handful of the best rap albums of all time and no real misses
Drake values volume too much to create a focused masterpiece album at this point. Comparing their discographies doesn't work for me because Drake is more of a hitmaker where's Kendrick is all about full length statements
Maybe this is how they talked about Queen vs Pink Floyd back in the day lol
Drake has multiple projects that have have been impactful, influential and more than anything else, have aged well. Constantly boxing him as just a hit-maker or someone who only focuses on making hits is disingenuous when the bulk of his consensus best songs are album cuts.
You had to mention joints from 10 years ago tho, just like how I could bring up old ass Kendrick songs that people actually experienced. Drake hasn’t touched the people on that level in a long long time, he went too far in the other direction just like Kendrick went too far in the opposite.
Kendrick is the friend who’s constantly being a buzzkill and being negative but drake is the friend who’s trying to get you to drink on a Tuesday morning
Both are lame at this point
No rapper from Drake's generation is dropping a project like Care Package, which is a compilation of songs that never made his albums but is really filled with timeless songs from front to back.
I feel like no one will truly appreciate Drake's catalog till he's done making music but that man has given the world a lot of incredible music. Too bad people only see it fit to s*** on everything he does musically.

I don't personally believe Drake has made a "great" album length statement since 2015. Just because some of the 20 tracks that are good happen to be deep cuts doesn't mean he makes great albums these days. I don't need 75% of what's on Scorpion or CLB.
Cool that he's feeding his fans though

Yeah great comparison. I said a year ago Drake is more like Queen. He’s a hitmaker more than he is an album artist. Kendrick def fits the Pink Floyd mold

Fair enough but many people feel differently. And what does that matter? So Far Gone is a classic mixtape. Take Care/Nothing Was the Same are classic albums. I'd argue that IYRTIRL is a classic tape as well. That's already 4 classics, along with several other albums that many people rate highly and engage with consistently till this day.
Don't really know what else people want from Drake at this point in his career.

Let’s just say he takes more time off than drake
also man doesn’t get on enough features as well
There’s a real argument on who’s more skilled as a rapper, because they both have some skill sets scoring high while totally lacking in others
Kendrick has storytelling and content, but non existent wordplay, bar skill and vocabulary
Drake is the inverse where he has the technical skills but very little to say
Kendrick is tasteful but not entertaining
Drake is entertaining but tasteless
They’re two halfs of a great rapper, if they did the fusion dance maybe we’d have something

Gkmc, TPAB, Take Care, and NWTS are on the same level for me, 2010s “classics” that can’t compare to real classics
They’re not among the greatest hip hop albums, gkmc and TPAB suffer from the skits being overbearing

What I expect from Drake at this point in his career is some actual growth in his subject matter instead of churning out the same toxic IG caption bait into his forties
People say Drake is our Jay but I think I would have a stroke if Drake put out an album like 4:44
Opened this thread expecting the usual blood bath but there's actually some good discussion going on. But yeah they both just represent two different sides of hip hop with some crossover between the both of them
At this point I would say drake is a better rapper but Kendrick makes better albums
I think Kendrick’s skill is making art, and beautiful music / stories with rap. But Kendrick hasn’t rapped bars like middle of the ocean in forever

The problem is those sides used to be able to coexist
I blame The Roots “What They Do” for causing the original backpacker/gangsta divide, causing our generations goats to be one dimensional artists
TPAB and Damn probably better than majority of drake albums BUT they don’t exhibit rapping skill like drake does throughout his discography

The a***ogies in this are hilarious
One of my favorite songs ever. If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend doing a deep dive on his discography, both his solo and Geto Boys work. It’s very rewarding and there’s a lot of other moments like that where he really takes you into that mindset. Best catalog in rap imo
I've never looked into his solo stuff, will definitely give it a shot now, always cool to see someone rank an artist so highly who you didn't expect, makes you realise you might not have been paying enough attention to them
YB better
