This is probably going to be incredibly controversial but I enjoyed Sleeping Dogs more than I've ever enjoyed a GTA
Probably Red Dead?
The devil in that one.
Unless youre talking about 2. Then there's a giant and a vampire and a Frankenstein like robot
damn, you made me realize realism SUCKS
can't think of a "realistic" game I'd put over a more fictionalized world.
at the very most the GTA games would be my pick because yea yea they got there trippy high af alien missions but generally the games are grounded in realism.
Rockstar are still on a technical level above anyone else if you want to talk about realism.
But I'd sooner pick Splatoon as a better game
Crazy Taxi
Lol I used be so amazed as a kid seeing crazy taxi with real restaurants and stuff. They pizza hut and tower records and all kinds places

I agree gta and other rockstar games are the best example of maximizing fun while being grounded in realism like you said. Only other examples i can think of are FPS
It’s almost like video games aren’t meant to be realistic 😳
Lowkey a walking simulator but Hell Let Loose
I wouldn’t consider that a realistic game

Crazy cause while what you said about rockstar is true, I feel like GTA v was a step back in a lot of ways from GTA IV. But if course rdr 2 came back on another level and VI looks even crazier. But GTA v while extremely well made, was probably one of the first times I feel like they took certain steps back from their previous work

I haven’t played in a very long time

They toned down the realism from 4 a lot. For the better I would say gta4 gets kind of sloggy at some parts

Dude right? If I wanted realism I’d stick to reality
Modern and historical battlefield games, red dead 2 and obv gta games come to my head, far cry 2 is low-key an immersive banger with great npc ai, rising storm 2 vietnam
I haven’t played ghost of tsushima yet but looks amazing and although the games environment is highly contrasted and artistic, i still think it’s in a fairly realistic world
Sleeping dogs I’ve been hearing is great
The mafia series i need to play and fits the criteria
Ghost of Tsushima bangs
