He should just, I dunno, sound inspired? Say some unvarnished real s*** and pick some beats that push the game somewhere a little different. It's Drake. Bro has access to basically any producer he wants and the stuff he's put out for Iceman sounds shabby and unfinished. Does he love music at all anymore? It's hard to tell based on what he's releasing these days because it's all so hermetic and boring. He's spending more time drinking and gambling than searching for the cutting edge of pop like he did when he was hungry.

One really cool thing about More Life, a quality that made it so intoxicating and likable, is that it fused together a number of specific sounds and geographic areas that he was clearly in love with at the time. Say what you want about his contributions, but he cared about the music and artists he was putting on. With his level of influence, he can still be that. It's just that the level of collaboration we get now is hot garbage like Gently.

So yeah 1. Don't be afraid to be the vulnerable person everyone related to back in the day and 2. Find an interesting vein of musical inspiration to mine. That would make for a quality project.

Back in 2011 he was finding beats from a Jamie xx remix album to hop on and clearly spent a long time searching for pockets to slide on the record.

He would rap on Jai Paul samples when only music nerds would know who that is. He would jump on Little Dragon remixes. I need Drake to be a music nerd again but the 'culture' shunned him for this. Plus I get very much I can do this in my sleep vibes from his recent output rather than taking the time to find the most challenging melodies and flows.

Idk if he keeps rapping like he did on FATD or these new songs from the stream this album will be incredibly bad. On the other hand $$$ was great, so lowkey hope he does a Pop album or something.

I don’t really care about genre. Just lock in with 40, boi1da and majid Jordan to make something that has a direction and actually sounds polished and not cheap. Thats really all he needs. Some substance to his writing would also help but he seems to live a hollow, vapid life so I’m not sure if he’s able to at this point.

Generally speaking, his production is so boring and cheap sounding now, that’s been his biggest issue for a minute. He used to have his own unique sound but now it’s morphed into whatever is poppin at the moment mixed with a lazy beat switch into some 40 synths or something. I love 40 production but sometimes it feels like his production is just thrown into random songs with no type of cohesion

Honestly, Drake needs an executive producer.

A good executive producer at that.

Shi....even Rick Rubin could probably help him curate a strong, cohesive album that's not a pseudo-playlist.

40 ain’t even on the songs. It’s probably Noel production which is a cheap imitation of what 40 does. 40 a perfectionist and it’s no coincidence the less he’s been involved the more stale things have gotten. He used to give it soul and that feeling of nostalgia

I was thinking if he dropped a pure rapping album with type of beats he is familiar with like GNX to show he is still a great rapper would be dope but i guess everybody would call him names everytime he calls himself the best rapper etc.

If he drops another genre of album people would say stuff like jendrick ran him off

I honestly think he should drop something like iytrtitl 2 to show he is elite at anything then proceed to drop something unique and classic material
