I listen to rock music when I wanna feel depressed or punch a wall, that's about it. Rap and r&b speaks to a wider range of moods for me, although admittedly less intensely

I missed that “it’s either an abstraction” part that’s definitely true. If they do it in rock it’s usually coded enough that the general public won’t see it as overtly sexual.
Basically how i feel with storytelling/ record keeping. Other genres will make a song about a historical event but it’s so abstracted you can’t tell what they’re talking about.
