I do recommend cracking plugins if u really need to. Not sure what daw you use but most stock plugins i find to be great. I thinks ableton has super good stock synths and presets.
Also I would look into processing sounds to give them some more oomph.
What kind of sounds are you interested in?

So smooth. Floating

Ive been pirating vsts for years man
I even got team r2r system installed. That s*** was hella confusing

i use fl studio, but i got ableton 12 too...i just fw the workflow more on fl studio it's much more palatable to me. one day i'd like to just sit down and teach myself how to use ableton properly
in terms of sounds i'm interested in, honestly i just go with the flow and whatever my ear picks up on when i'm f***ing around i just roll with it. it's prob best to have a plan or an idea, but i'm still finding my footing after all these years. ideally i just wanna make some good pop music (in the most general sense)
My music library sound like I got that s*** on and I do

should def take your time to learn some sound design
basics aren't super hard

Pop music u say…. My specialty
(i work with girls and make pop music)
FL studio has rlly good stock plugins too.
I see where you coming from. Some days I just open up ableton and make whatever comes to me, other times I obsess over a certain type of sound and drag in a bunch of references and try to capture a similar essence.
I mostly use Serum 2 as my go to synth. I have like 50k+ presets
Arturia collection is cool if you want a more vintage a***og esque sound
Spire for digital / cliche electronic sounds.
Serum 2 for anything and everything
Native instruments Razor i use because my goat AG cook and Sophie used it.
Can’t go wrong with Zenology, that s*** has like everything.
I’ve spent a lot of time studying pop music and honestly the best thing you can learn is song writing and arrangement. Songwriting doesn’t even have to be lyrics btw . Writing good and memorable melodies is key and arranging the instrumental allows for everything to shine
build up, tension, release, etc.
So many times i just end up interpolating melodies (or I take the rhythmic part) and i combining song structures. Steal from your favorites, fuse everything. In my eyes, everything is a remix of something.

learning sound design doesn’t hurt but i think it’s lowkey overrated
imo what matters most is writing a good song and nobody rlly cares how u ended up designing some s*** to get the end result
Tough conversations to be had soon.
Its for the better.

you get it; i'm taking notes fs.
i just wanna get comfortable with writing and creating; i've been saying for YEARS that i wanna put something out but i never do because my mind is just so blitzed that i get hung up on wanting a first draft to be perfect
btw your suggestion to use song references really lit a fire under my ass. i haven't been on a creative streak like that in a long, long time and it really inspired me...honestly thank you from the bottom of my heart man. feel like i have some sort of direction now in terms of making music
you're so right about everything being a remix of something...you can't just make s*** up out of thin air, and i'm just now realizing that unfortunately
Bro why do i feel like s*** f***
So hard for me to come to reality today
god, I pray that she remains happy.
