His beats on Rare Chandeliers say otherwise

    Good project

    Not a classic

    But it’s good

    But it’s good

Its not a classic cuz of Action lol

The beats are for sure classic

    We're talking producers not rappers

    And those beats are elite

Ah yes, he was never super praised or had amazing work before then

    Damn reddit

He's a great producer but not top 20. He is heavily overrated recently and last few years he's been one dimensional.

    Still applies imo

I’m not gonna say it’s one of the best produced projects oat and I think that’s fair 😂

But like I said, it’s good lol

He is def top 20 & hes been heavy in the game way longer than the last few years

Idc what Reddit d*** sucks next. Just because they d*** suck modern day Pusha T & Freddie Gibbs, doesnt mean they havent put the work in prior & arent among some the best rhymers.

It def is one of the best produced at least in modern times

And Madlib only got one to two classics then lol which idk why Madlib is being a way to discredit bro

You the one that said rappers matter of the quality of the producer for whatever odd reason yall do a lot of tip toeing n comparing instead of talking about the individual

Alc been heavy in the underground game for decades one of the reasons the mixtape game was so healthy

Not only that but got Prodigy back on his feet

Not only that but all his work with Boldy, Roc, Freddie, Kendrick, Schoolboy, Ab Soul, Jay Elect, Mac Miller, Currensy, Action Bronson, Rick Ross, Earl, Mobb Deep & GUnit as a group etc. etc.

But "lol not as good as madlib tho n reddit likes him"

Only way Alc isnt top 20 to top 10 is if youre being obtuse & reactionary to the "reddit crowd" which idk why that should even matter

  • sample heavy production and completely original production are two completely different ball games

now i'm not saying alchemist is bad because he uses samples, but i will say looping a couple samples is easier than making a full beat from scratch.

sure, ppl can still go dilla with the samples. Like i think a lot of what nujabes, dilla, the avalanches, etc. do is some really impressive and talented stuff. Throw DJ Premier in there too.

but if i'm being honest I've never heard a single alchemist beat that made me think "wow that's impressive"

that's not saying i dont think there's good alchemist beats btw i mean there's plenty alchemist songs i actually like a lot. It's just usually these are staight loops, literally not even a single chop, and nothing interesting is going on w the drums either.

I cant say he's a bad producer but i realllly dont think hes in the top 5 at all

This is what I’ve been tryna say lol

    Let’s talk about it

Imo there’s no case to be made over Premier, Rock, q Tip, dilla and madlib

Alc has the catalog but not half the flair and quality

Dont get me wrong i love his beats but we’re comparing him to the Jordans and Kareems of this s***

He’s more KG than any of those

I give Madlib and DOOM major credit for the underground scene were still seeing

But Al has kept it going for the last decade. All the dudes who styles come directly from Madvillian all went to Al and he kept that feeling alive

Roc Marci and Alchemist bro. Madvillian came out 20 years ago

Yup. To me Al's biggest strength is his connections. He's the connection man to bridge together artists who wouldn't of worked together otherwise

This such bullshit lol he does have beats that arent "just loops"

And if "just loops" is a counterpoint then i guess early Kanye TRASH, Dj Premier TRASH, DJ Dahi TRASH etc. etc. lmao

Lets not even go in on how most these "original production" niggas are using "just loops" out of a kit or arp vst.

  • Apr 2, 2022

Bro uses "loops" like most of the game pack it up boys he is donezo
