was really excited for Rio's post-prison comeback, esp since the stage was set for him to blow up with Detroit having its time in the limelight after he got locked up, but he raps like he's complacent now... do feel like we get occasionally glimpses of old Rio tho

    if we saying post 2018-----

Keem --- just because Orange soda cut through and he had the cardo tape before. Him sampling cotex and rapping on it on the intro was like oh this is wasn't what i was expecting

Pop Smoke--- brought and established a sound for NYC after the city spent the better part of that decade wave riding other regions (yes I know drill came from chicago first before and london got inspired by chicago and did they own spin and then it hit nyc before you nerds saying anything.) he was really making HITS

he easily could've transitioned to this pocket and made f***ing home on the charts. S*** still sad.

Don Toliver ---- I know Don Toliver announced himself on Can't say, but i'll still count him. He felt like where Travis sound was "supposed to be " at the time.

this and After Party along donny womack were like the loudest "i'm here" announcements.

Ken Carson --- Discovered Ken while waiting for Carti to drop. Though his sound was unique at the time despite clearly being inspired by Carti. (I'll still contest that Ken Carson was what Travis was to Yeezus for WLR but topic for another day).

    forgot these fellas too

    Yeat is kind of straightforward

Hearing Lancey on Skepta's Ignorance is Bliss made me perk up.

This was the one for me and I was like this mf hard

to this day I still think LIVE EVIL is the best album he's made (life in hell is close tho)

Jim legxacy because his s*** was so different at the time. His sampling choices and random audio drops reminded me of his XL label mate.

YT caught my attention with arcteryx after a friend showed me but i kind of forgot about him then the black and tan video popped up one day and i was locked in

for as cynical as i feel about music over the last couple years we've got some really great s*** that made me excited man.
