  • This post/video started an online discourse. And I want all of you to know..that he is absolutely correct. Ice Cube is the 3rd greatest rapper of all time and the best the West has ever had to offer

I respect the hell out of Kendrick. But there may not be more than 2-3 rappers ever that have the career Cube had. Stats off writing and rapping with NWA, arguably the most iconic rap group ever. Then he splits, releases arguably the goat diss record ever and follows it up with 4.5 straight classic projects to kick off his solo career. I say 4.5 cause Lethal Injection not considered a classic by some but it’s aging very well compared to when it came out. Hits, numbers, some of the best conscious records the genre has ever produced, multiple classic groups. Has become incredibly underrated due to his movie career. Welcome to the Ice Cube appreciation thread

    Cube 🥇
    Kendrick 🥈
    Snoop 🥉

    Kendrick.

There’ll be some corny contrarians who come itt and say otherwise cus they favorite rapper lost

  • Cube definitely has the lineage argument going for him. Him being now underrated isn't solely due to his movie career. Anything past that golden era u named has been HIGHLY mid. He's another OG who had NO quality control in the later half of his career and was just dropping anything. Snoop was the same way.

Time will tell with the later half of Kendrick's career, but I can definitely see him passing Cube overall unanimously. Cause right now who u give #1 is probably gonna depend on what generation u are and who's prime u experienced growing up.

Cube over Snoop easily for having multiple solo classics, writing for NWA/Lench Mob/WC Connection, and creating the Friday/Barbershop movies and soundtracks too.

Snoop is cool but heavily carried by Doggystyle, both Chronics, and features.

Took Kendrick Lamar 10 years to become #1, to be a "hits" guy, to have a classic diss record. Cube had all of that by his second year of going solo and he has more classics (records, albums, w.e you want)

  • Cube disrespect is insane man lol

At this point, Kendrick likely has the strongest case.

Cube has a strong argument as well especially when you factor in his writing for NWA and his other groups and the overall impact factoring in his movies/movie soundtracks, influence, etc.

But Kendrick also is a better technical rapper/lyricist, more polished albums, more hits, and way more acclaimed overall.

If we're excluding Pac, I'll give it to Kendrick. But Cube being over Kendrick isn't a stretch either.

Household name, sure. Not the top rapper in the game or even close. Cube was THE #1 rapper in rap during early 90s. Tupac's biggest rap inspiration. Huge influence on BIG too. Kendrick hasn't reached that level until maybe DAMN. or drake beef.

Gonna take 10-15 years for y'all to leave this era and realize it's by far the worst era in rap history. The top dawgs today would be middle class back then. Small pond making the fish look bigger. Fringe top 10, thats where it stops. Cube is top 5

  • What ive learned last 2-3 years is that most people over 30-35 basically think of this era of rap as a wasteland that will be highly forgettable, while most people under 30 think we are living during the GOAT era with multiple all timers. Same things were being said with the Wayne era mid to late 00s. Time is a flat circle

Not the top rapper in the game or even close? There’s only one rapper that may get mention before him popularity wise and that’s Drake lmao huh? Na we not doing that and I can argue cube was never the number 1 rapper in the 90s there was mad rappers selling more and dropping more hits than cube back then he might’ve had been the nicest but more goes into being the number 1 artist

Kendrick a blog era rapper not this era and it was one of the peak eras ever, can't use the "weak era" bs on him

Nah. I see your point regarding the mainstream but Kendrick would be good in any era.

Kendrick would be burned at the stake for being too good in the 90s get that generational s*** outta here

I love the OGs as much as the next nigga, I’m grown as s***, but Kendrick is just different, it’s not his fault everyone else from this generation is not on his level rapping wise
