Because they’ve had no negative realized consequences for their actions.

A man drives home drunk after the bar. He makes it home safe. There’s no consequence so this behavior will continue.

A man cheats on his girl that he loves and she leaves him forever. Do you think this person will learn from his mistake?

Nowadays not only are people not giving negative consequences they are also rewarding negative behavior.

If someone does something you do not like, not necessarily something small, if you show no type of consequence for their behavior it will continue. That hell is forever.

People are like dogs. They must be trained. Good dog. Bad dog.

The worst kind of people in this world have had little to no bad consequences for their actions. For if they did sooner, they might’ve changed.

Give people consequences for their actions. It’s truly the only way (some) people will understand. You will help them in the long run. But most importantly, you will have a core value system that can’t be obstructed.

    People need more empathy

You're much less likely to bring harm to someone if you know what effects it will cause

    Bad dog

People have too much to think about

The generosity of others for most, ranks very low on their scale

Consequences are how we learned as babies

Why didn’t you touch the hot stove

Adults learn by consequences as well. A lot of people are not as self aware as you may be.

You are giving people too much credit. You’re looking at a mystical dream of what you think people are like, when in reality... most are not

    1. Nobody has any empathy.
    2. Competitiveness in our society
    3. Social media "clout and attention seekers"
    4. No morals/dignity.

    Pretty much all this.

It's human nature to be a piece of s***. It's much easier to give in to that nature than it is to try and actively be a good person.

most people are just intrinsically garbage, and in the heat of the moment will make unwise decisions.

This is exactly why it’s so important for people to learn consequences early on

    Sadly, most don’t

A person loses logic with too much emotion. This is why it’s so important to emotionally control yourself. I have a lot of info on this, but this isn’t the right thread for that discourse.

People get mad and get trapped.. in their own hell that they create. Logic goes straight out the window. So now... that “mad” person is capable of anything imaginable. Because the offset of emotion to logic is very correlated in most people.

We all need training. And most won’t get it from within. So I’m spreading the word to get people out of that hell.

    Agree.

Nothing applies to everyone. This applies to most.

  • Apr 2, 2021

Without some repercussions, whether or not you want to call them “consequences” or “punishments”, people will not understand that they did something wrong. Most people don’t meditate on the misdeeds or crimes enough to willfully change their ways them without blunt redirection or seeing some evidence of their aftermaths. Op is not completely wrong.
