Ah yes, ''yOu aRe hIdIn a cHiLd'' diss of the decade!!
Breh if only Drake dropped that career ending diss track. He decided to be the bigger man though
lol
narrative that thank me later is bad has always been and still is stupid af
It’s was always a bad album. Trying to act like it’s good is revisionist history
Drake said himself he lost. This is a non argument kid
Depends on how you look at it, kiddo. Bar for bar, song for song = Drake won. But I know how biased you are so I don't expect you to admit that
if Fancy didn't have swizz beatz on it Thank Me Later would be a 10/10 album, and that song is still good
9/10
They don't by the definition of "hits" that people itt are using to say Pusha doesn't have any. Show me the songs that charted high on the billboard from the albums I named. Saying a classic rap album needs songs that get radio/club play is such a weird argument for a genre that's supposed to be the counter culture
The real classics have hit records.
Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Ready To Die, etc.
All those s***s you mentioned have to be argued ad infinitum and still wont be unanimous.
The REAL classics, the ones that are universally accepted as classics, have hit records.

No one gives a s*** about bars in a diss track. Go watch battle rap live-streams in caffeine if that’s what ur looking for.
Drake himself said he lost, pulled out the notes app before a song, and found himself in a 30 minute therapy session with lebron
It's actually aged better then you'd think.
Light Up >>>>>
Hated it when it came out and I hate it now
That album literally took me from being a super Stan to not giving a f*** about this nigga
Definitely the biggest disappointment musically in my life time
Freddie Gibbs has a bunch of classics. Underground classics that only his fans will really love.
He wasnt on a major label and only his fans will argue his discography.
It is what it is
hip hop has always been a competitive genre at its core though and i think it should be ok to have our lists while also being aware that these are just opinions and of course also giving production and others who put in work their props as well.
if we include groups though i definitely also have outkast high up, probably in top 10, but id also have to make room up there for wu tang, mobb deep, and atcq
yeah i wasn't just talking about outkast, i think there's lots of groups that could be considered top 10.
that's true about the origins of the genre, but then some super purists would even argue we should be discussing producers more than rappers so things can evolve.
we can have separate conversations too obviously, but if it's just about rapping then really i'd be thinking about classic verses and hooks which Andre has so many of. When people talk about Nicki as a rap legend they usually bring up her Monster verse which wasn't on her own song but might be her best moment. With rappers that are part of groups i think we should just look at their verses, if we're only talking about rap.
Drake only has 2 classics tbh
(NWTS & IYRTITL)
The rest is either above average, average or trash.

At the time it was seen as a sizable step down from SFG and a big disappointment.
Lowkey one of the worst debut albums from a legend

Scorpion has so many bops but the filler kills me it’s like watching One Piece

what would you consider TC & SFG?
Daytona > most rappers careers
Daytona is just good.
Push’s best will always be just good....

Why should I care what Becky and her mom think is a hip hop classic? I care what people who have actually immersed themselves in hip hop culture and have listened to a lot of rap think. Popularity doesn't mean the best, I thought people realized this by now. I guess the best movie each year is whatever new Marvel movie comes out
