  • From the NY Times article:

Caroline Lemp, who dated Mr. Platner for several months in 2013, described him as a “gentle giant.” She said he never made her feel unsafe or showed any signs that he was struggling with the physical or mental effects of his military service.

“He was a great boyfriend,” said Ms. Lemp, 36, who now lives in St. Louis. “He was super kind, very nice, fun.”

The others, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Mr. Platner was never physically threatening. One, a nurse from Belfast, Maine, who dated him for a couple months after he returned home to Maine, described him as responsible, intelligent and supportive. Another, who dated him in Washington between roughly 2011 and 2013, said she witnessed some “potentially problematic behavior,” referring to his heavy drinking. But she “felt really safe with him,” she said.

This was a complete nothingburger. The only really negative things are coming from a GOP operative..

I think there’s a reasonable chance that Steyer and Nithya could still make the runoff if I’m understanding correctly how many votes remain to be counted and how they will likely go

Are there no reps running against them? I haven’t heard a word about that side in this race

Mike Rogers is running again and no one tried running against him.

Kalshi has it at 93% that Nithya is going to advance over Spencer Pratt

I've been watching the numbers for CA governor closely and Hilton is definitely losing ground to steyer after becerra overtook him this afternoon. Yesterday Hilton was ahead of steyer by about 400k votes, now he's only ahead by 340k.

The real question is whether steyer can close that gap with the last third of the votes that still have to be counted

Yeah kinda crazy. Serious outsider effect going on. Also the fact he physically embodies what you think of Maine, makes sense why he feels so relatable to people there. But I'm surprised how much support he has online

I’m surprised how many haters he has online, feel like for every post in support of him I see 2 that are blueanon type accounts s***ting on him (and this was well before the stuff from the last two weeks)

Blackwater mercenary/iraq war vet with a totenkomf tattoo is more than enough to garner hate imo. Dude said the reason he joined the marines was so that he could kill people.

I get why people want him to win though. Anti-establishment/outsider is intriguing. I see him as the lesser of two evils. He and Collins are two s***ty people

Also I think it's crazy he's still going with the story that he didn't know what the tattoo meant

Platner is a white history nerd. His great-grandpa fought in WWI, he was a huge WWII guy growing up, he fought in multiple wars, and his own staffers have called him a military history buff

Like I'd get if it was a funky rune that could be interpreted differently. But it's an obvious totenkomf

And I'm certain that close to the General there's gonna be an exposé about how he did know and they will interview the other guys in his unit or an old friend or something

I agree that he probably knew at least sometime afterwards. However, one of the other guys in his unit was interviewed and stuck with Platner's story.

    zeteo.com/p/platners-fellow-marine-pushes-back

Phil Proschko, who served with Platner in the Marines, dismissed this claim in a brief interview with Zeteo on Friday.

“No, we did not purposely get hateful f***ing s*** because we’re racist people,” he said. “We got matching tattoos because we were in our 20s, drunk in Croatia, and that’s it. That’s all that f***ing happened.”

He added, “I don’t want to speak to any more reporters. That was over 20 years ago. We just got matching skull-and-crossbone tattoos that we thought looked cool in Croatia. Whatever happened after that, that’s everybody else’s f***ing business.”

  • Gap between Pratt and Raman has narrowed even more.

    Pratt: 27.3% - 184,596
    Raman: 26.2% - 177,702

77.7% expected votes in (Est. remaining 194,000)

Now I need Young Kim to move to 3rd place in CA House District 40

If anyone from OC is on here you prob know Young Kim as one of the biggest grifting Republicans in Orange County. For years prior to the redistricting when she was in a very competitive district she advertised herself as extremely moderate, basically the Korean Susan Collins lmao. I specifically remember an npr interview where they kept trying to get her opinion on Trump and she kept trying to dodge it.

And low and behold now that redistricting has put her in one of the most densely GOP districts she realized her moderate appeal didn’t work anymore so she started scrambling to flip her image — and she literally put “Trump Republican” on all of her campaign signs

I don’t fw the Dem (Esther Kim) that could overtake her, but I just need to see her f***ing lose
