I kind feel bad for anyone that didnt grow up with Naruto, hxh, one piece and bleach.
If we talking bout different generations. tho..yu yu hakusho, rurouni kenshin and dbz had the most impact in anime and are the true goats
I grew up with Naruto and stopped watching it whenever it came up on TV because I was sick of watching flashback sequences every other episode. I sure as hell wish I didn't grow up with it.
Never thought I'd see people trying to argue Naruto over MHA..
If you don't have a sharingan or a demon you're forgotten as a character in that show. MHA shows everyone off.

Shikamaru and Gaara literally becomes kazekage
naruto and MHA both mid, not worth debating which one better

I beg to differ
i grew up with those and dont get why u feel bad for people who didnt
I dunno fam. I just got so many life lessons from these anime as a kid
MHA overall has way better characters, pacing, art and action than Naruto. Especially the anime
uhh...
Back in the day people use to look at you funny when you said stuff like “Naruto, One Piece and Bleach are just as good/better than Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin etc.” Because they were the new things, but now that they’re sort of classified as legendary series; so now it’s not that crazy to debate whether Naruto or Dragon Ball is better
In like 10 years MHA will be in that same category and ppl will be giving others a weird looks when someone claims that whatever new hit series is poppin’ in 2030 is better than MHA
There def is something to be said when I was literally in the age range of narutos target base and that s*** was lame even then
DBZ is in a league of its own in its heyday. Everybody else was competing for 2nd place. Closest thing to it back then would’ve probably been the Gundam franchise/mechs such as Zoids etc, more precisely Gundam Wing.
I wouldn’t class YYH Hakusho in the exact same vein as the big 3 back in the day either. It’s a classic no doubt and it was very popular. It’s stood the test of time from other anime that were out during that time. Idk the manga n anime numbers but whatever was on the Toonami lineup originally, overshadowed YYH at first iirc they premiered it on Adultswim before they moved it to Toonami eventually. Rurouni Kenshin, and Tenchi Muyo were more popular than YYH when they were all airing at the same time relatively.
So if I had to pick a big 3 from back then, it’s DBZ, Mobile Suit Gundam (entire franchise), and Rurouni Kenshin or Tenchi Muyo competing for the 3rd spot. Eventually YYH joins in but it definitely ain’t start that way.

havent seen kenshin but naruto, one piece, and bleach (the anime not the mangas), are all a lower tier for me just for how much filler they have. db and yyh barely had any compared to them.

mechas are a different genre though, i feel like they can't really be compared
I barely have any merch or fig, if ima start collecting it will only be Gundam kits and the SIC riders for things I want to put on display
Would cop anime storyboards, any hand drawn stuff too. Owning a piece of history like those must feel amazing. I'd thought of going to Comiket and meet my fav creators, thanking them and everything while I get smth for my own keepsake

DBZ has a lot of filler too. The filler was extending a fight that should only take 1 episode to adapt, and instead making the fight like 3/4 episodes. The Freeza fight should have been like 3-4 episodes at most, but ended up being like 23 episodes.
DB only had less filler simply because the source material is significantly shorter than Naruto, and Bleach.
DB: 42 Volumes
Naruto: 72 Volumes
Bleach: 74 Volumes

Naruto % wise had much more filler than DBZ. Has nothing to do with length.

It’s probably about the same for DBZ.
Kai reduces DBZ from nearly 300 episodes to 160.
The difference is that DBZ’s filler is is dragging on the canon material. A lot of people’s definition of filler is “stuff that didn’t happen in the manga”, so DBZ’s filler doesn’t get counted on the filler percentage.
The same happens with One Piece. One Piece just drags on the canon material. Sometimes it only adapts like 7 pages of a manga chapter in one episode because they adapt things at a slow pace

I understand what people consider filler. Again, it’s not close at all.
15% of DBZ episodes are filler. 41% for both Naruto & Shippuden. That’s huge differences and both have plenty of filler mixed in with canon episodes.
If they had a “Naruto Kai” it’d be an even more extreme number of cut episodes.
I love both series either way 🤷🏼‍♂️

YYH is the clear GOAT.
MHA problem is not many likeable characters and they try to give them all shine, also the story pretty basic. YYH did excellent with the main 4 & whatever supporting roles were there had decent development without being too much. Also a great story with no filler.
With that said I do like MHA enough to watch, although this newest season started off so bad. Shounen in general getting tiring to me, just a rehash of the classics for the most part.

Sorry but I don’t exactly agree with this. You’re not understanding that the filler in DBZ is the rate at which they adapt it
