gaming occasionally
reading/learning about cars
watching historical documentaries
lately ive been getting into collecting physical media and improving my home theater/music listening setup. totally changed how i interact with music for the better.
Is activism really a hobby though? That’s some real stressful life changing s*** isn’t it lol
You’re right
I do not enjoy it
Music of course (used to just listen, now im trying to go to concerts too, clubbing is out of the question cause there are no clubs im interested in around me)
Reading manga mostly lol, i want to read more classic literature but i only have 24 hours in a day so its hard for me to fit everything rn
Watching anime and tv
Going to the gym
Playing videogames
Tried to bring some of these nerdier hobbies irl by going to cons for example to get over social anxiety but its still kinda hard for me to meet new people
Working out. S*** is a passion more than a hobby, coming up on a decade lifting next year
Making music. Been making music since I can remember and everyone around me knows I got the talent/drive for it and it shows
Reading. I could read all day if I wanted to. Fell in love with it as a kid
Writing. I write for fun outside of music just cause the activity of moving a pen/pencil is relaxing to me
Walking. I take like 1-3 hour walks daily depending on how I’m feeling and time, don’t really let the weather hold me back
Cooking/cleaning. This can take up like 2-3 hours in my day but is relaxing
Yoga/meditating. Gotta keep your body loose and the mind clear
Weed. Functioning stoner 🫡
Skin/haircare. Can take like an hour but I love it
Music, photo and video editing, painting, language learning, backshots (though it tends to border on profession)
reading, hooping, and weightlifting mainly
wanna expand into some more hobbies tho, maybe singing or camping. also want to get back into yoga
the importance of hobbies is understated and would definitely help most young men with stress and anxiety
It’s understated because as fellas we’ve made it “corny” to have things we’re interested in that isnt just d****, sports, and b****es.
And not that the 1st two can’t be productive hobbies but most people i think it’s fair to say aren’t utilizing it that way.
Part of it I think it’s fear ala negative reinforcement. We don’t really look at how a lot of fellas was raised. :/
play futbol
go to a ceramic studio just to do fun things
read some no real things books
do art
talkshit
go to hardcore concerts just sweat things out
Going to concerts solo dolo (and honestly…doing anything solo dolo) is such an underrated way to make friends (even if its temporary for that event, that connection you make with another person for the same music taste is dope asf)
Just sweated it out at a Jean Dawson show at Irving Plaza
Really want to learn how to paint but always been terrible at drawing/art and I don't know where to start
Don’t worry about being good that’s capitalism talking my nigga
All that matters is if you having fun, no one is looking at your art at a paint and sip thinking “is Less Life gonna be the next Barkley Hendricks?”
Just do it bro.
well my hobby is gonna get ripped away from me soon which is nice
???????????
Is activism really a hobby though? That’s some real stressful life changing s*** isn’t it lol
The “fun” in activism isn’t necessarily the activism itself but the point of connection and the community that is built, as activism is nothing without organization. Knowing you’re playing a part (no matter how big or small) in trying to make the earth a better place than how it was for you, is one of the most fulfilling feelings you can have.
Cause @americana is right in that the s*** itself is stressful. Potential martyrdom is something no human ever wants. Even if they knew it was a possibility, every martyr in history had a second thought once that bullet hit them.
and some men whole social life is just their romance
and depressed n lonely in everything else from family to friends to interacting
@SegaDreamFlash cause men were never socialized to value our male friendships the way women value theirs.
That’s why niggas try to make they girl they therapist.
I know she’s a hot topic for some but bell hooks actually has said on record women are not better at loving than men are, it’s just modern society has made it that way due to media representation, our homes, and our environment.
When was the last time you fellas broke down crying in front of your homeboys? Halloween, long story. :snoopsmh:
