Plus not for nothing, it's kinda implied that the initial layout of it is inspired by his architect fantasies/doodles. Wish fulfillment made manifest, he thought he could escape from the unsatisfying reality of peddling furniture by literally submerging himself into his old passion
Yep!
Everyone itt don’t listen to this person. Go watch it for yourself, this type of atmospheric horror just isn’t for everyone
Yeah sure bro whatever you say
New Boards of Canada album out and Backrooms tonight
It’s going to be a spooky and liminal Friday for me
And to no surprise, there’s a Boards of Canada song that plays during the credits
I’m not shocked at all that Kane would be a BoC fan. Geogaddi is probably in his top 5 lol
It’s just unfortunate that a lot of people are going to miss the very blatant themes of this film and instead will just say “this didn’t make sense, don’t go see this movie, nothing is explained”
But it is what it is I guess, I knew this film wasn’t meant for mainstream audience appeal
The original short film was far more captivating for me
I get why they did it for story purposes but I do think the shorts are a bit more frightening just due to the characters not choosing to be there...at least in the first couple found footage ones they just fall in there randomly and it's them trying to find their way out more than exploring for curiosity sake...it made sense for the story they were telling here for sure and they still got some scares and unsettling moments off the found footage shorts are definitely creepy
At that time I dont think he know there were others down there, unless I missed something. Also I think if a lot of business owners discovered an endless hallway in their own building, they’d look through it. It’s not that unbelievable.
At first I felt that, but I would have absolutely been tf outta there at the point I saw that seagull dawg. I just kept looking at my girl like :what: the further he went, and when he crawled through that little crawlspace where the bag was :dead:
Renate was kino though, perfect fit
Also looking back at the OG monster design, the movie version is way creepier

I hope I don't understand things. I love sitting in that uncanny space of unknowing.
I like that the whole reason for bringing the kids into the backrooms was to get video proof and really he woulda been good after 5 minutes but just kept going deeper and deeper
I did find it weird that Renate got it
I’m convinced i’m getting messed with a bit I’ve never had an experience like this at any movie really
An experimental horror film directed by a 20 year old btw
Impressive
Was coming out the theater and some dude walked out saying that s*** was a waste of his time and money
It was long and I didn’t like the plot of him going in the backrooms in the first place, like what was the point of doing all that and bringing people with you? He also failed to tell them that there were others in the backrooms already.
But as a whole it wasn’t bad if you know the lore, it’s a good movie for the fans but probably boring and confusing watching it casually
We skipping over the fact he was drunk and lonely with the first therapist convo? The rooms feed on these people's loneliness

Renate definitely gave it a special flavour and juice. She missed out on Weapons last year which I’m sure didn’t feel good but getting in on this is a more than happy consolation prize
