I've had the same Apple Music account since the service began in 2015, over 25K songs in my library, never unsubscribed or deactivated my account once
Yesterday my girl and I went to drop her car off at the mechanic, I played music on the drive there as normal
We drop the car off, walk across the street to get her rental, get into the rental
I connect my phone to the rental, go to play a song, and my screen says "Join Apple Music"
So I'm like maybe it's just a glitch, so I just click Join and go into the app
Entire library was GONE
Even songs I had purchased on iTunes in the past: GONE
Tried logging out of my Apple ID, re-syncing my library, restarted my phone... literally nothing worked
Eventually I deleted the Music app and redownloaded it, and that worked for some reason and my library was back
It's absolutely wild that the threat of your entire streaming library being wiped at any given moment is even a possibility because of a simple glitch, and even songs you actually purchased in the past aren't safe
OWN YOUR MUSIC. Never rely on streaming for anything because years of listening could literally be gone in the blink of an eye
Should be a way to get it all back. I accidentally unsubscribed and everything was gone. Resubscribed and it was still gone. Took a couple hours for it all to load back to my phone.

Yea thats the part of streaming that scares, that my whole library, playlists could just disappear.
Bout to create server to host my favorites as like a back up or something

I ended up getting it back after I deleted and reinstalled the app, but the fact that it can all be gone in a second is literally crazy
I'm mad I read all that just for the music to...still be there.
Sorry that happened to you bruh.
thats why you should transfer your s*** to spotify every now and then just to have a backup

So there was no need for this big reaction then..
thats definitely an apple music thing
spotify wouldnt do that s***
Do something like this and send it to yourself in an email or on Google Drive or something

The fact that it disappeared at all isn't crazy enough?

My music library of 11 years and counting disappears because of a glitch on their end and I'm not allowed to have a big reaction to that?
That's something that shouldn't be happening at all

The fact that we have it all is kinda crazier...
But I feel the frustration!

Right. So if you're paying for a service for 11 years, building a library of over 25K songs over that time period, you shouldn't expect to wake up one day with it all gone, right? Even if you find a way to recover it

I know the feeling tbh
We had it so good before streaming
Not they in here caping for streaming just because I was able to recover it, not even mentioning the songs that I had actually purchased that disappeared too
-Spotify got u wiped down
-Apple got u wiped down
-Tidal got u wiped down
I had this same thing happen a few months ago. I was sweating ngl had me shook.
