“Back in 2017-18 he should’ve already put in everything into contacting Nintendo to help work on soundtracks and sounds in general for them
Idk why ain’t at least try
Like this hype not gonna be the same, longevity-wise
On the business side for him atleast I guess”
The most cliché statement that every journalist/critic has made about Pi’erre’s production choices is that it sounds 8-bit and video game like. To be fair, Pi’erre has leaned into this whether through cover arts/aesthetics during official releases or rollouts, and even producing on handheld systems.

So the question is, did he fumble not reaching out to video game companies primarily Nintendo to try soundtrack a game?
nintendo imo is a very "keep it in house" type of company i dont think they would ever reach out to any producers like pierre
nintendo works with more like "composers" and the like. as much as it makes sense for pierre to work with nintendo on soundtracks they dont need him as mean as that sounds.
i vouch for pierre getting a big gig like this though.

Yea it may have been a reach, but I don’t think it would’ve been impossible to at least work with a capcom or Konami.
Nintendo is obviously like a dream more than anything but I could see a sega taking a swing given their embrace of artist led soundtracks before (in advance, no I’m not comparing Pierre to MJ)
imagine pierre getting into twitter beef with nintendo over splits
I wonder if he ever got residuals for GUMMO since sixnine stole the beat

sega is making a new jet set radio and usually music comes last. who knows whatll happen but i doubt pierre would be on there.
also i feel like pierre's status has gone down considerably this decade. i feel like when his name was hotter back 5 years ago he had the best chance of making this happen.
nothing is impossible tho i would buy whatever game pierre is doing music for because i know it would work

Was just talking about this in the Made in Paris album thread. Pi’erre could’ve did the metro approach and hosted an album to spotlight his production for some of the biggest in the game to hop on, but he decided to focus on sosshouse & his solo career. It backfired on him because it left him at the mercy of interscope and it cooled him off.
There’s a reality where he got the baton from Metro as the “it” super producer and does his own spiderverse soundtrack album
s*** sad

I don’t understand how metro is the only producer able to build a brand off his name these days
Pierre is the most one dimensional producer ever.
He had a great run but everything after TLOP4 showed he was a one and done

because the mainstream doesnt care about producers like that and metro decided to make himself the main artist so his name is on everything too it just worked out very well for him.
pierre pushing sosshouse and doing his solo thing couldve worked way better if he did exactly what metro like the other guy mentioned.

yes he is one dimensional me and my other producer friends that grew up in that era had a convo a few months back saying how even pierres current production sounds pretty dated.
if he progressed his style to become more versatile which he was very close to when he was working with kanye. which will probably be his biggest acheivment production wise.

Not to give him a pass, but of the late 2010s he’s probably the most emulated producer as well, which I think contributed to the dating of his sound. Because of his working relationship with Carti, everyone and their mother wanted the sauce.
What I will say though, is he could’ve had a timbaland moment and completely reinvented his direction.

any producer that grew up in this era knows for a fact that people emulating his sound eventually created a subgenre that exploded in the early 2020s that you may not have heard of
its called hyperpop and rage which is a direct emulation of pierre and ronny j production style and created one of the biggest stars of the decade so far....yeat (not the biggest fan but doesnt matter in this context)
pierre had a chance to take his sound to the next level like everyone else that emulated him actually ended up doing.
this is something me and my other producer friends talked about before too.
pierre's production style was emulated but expanded upon further than pierres capabilities apparantly
this is a whole different discussion than OP tho i could make a whole different thread on this
Nintendo wasn't gonna work with no f***in rappers in 2017
Maybe more open nowadays since they've been expanding their brands to more western media (Hollywood) but slim chances still

the Pokemon company (not Nintendo) however put out an album in 2021 that actually did feature some rappers
