Not calling cap but i'll believe it when I see it

I get what you're saying and semi-agree with you, but no way he wanted to drop 40+ songs on 3 albums (and a whole bunch of music videos) for the fun of it.

Fulfilling the UMG contract is the only thing that makes sense tbh, but who knows I guess.

There’s no doubt that this was part to fulfill his deal

I’m skeptical about the idea that this is gonna lead towards him fully being independent I don’t see it

This rollout IMO all was him to get a bigger number on the next deal

Prob sign with another major or have some kind of a good partnership with them - Sony

I think if Drake wanted to be purely independent, he could've/would've/should've done so many years ago. There's so much s*** these labels do that is hard to capture as a pure independent.

I simply do not believe he has the infrastructure nor the drive/acumen to sail the ship on his own

It legit says 'per HitsDailyDouble', as it's taken from their article. You guys don't read articles and are now skimming 140 character tweets as well

    Can someone further explain

The artist’s fabulously successful catalog is said to be remaining with Universal.

I thought Drake owned his catalog?

He owns his masters for everything from Scorpion onwards. We don't know what happening with everything before that. I'm also assuming that whatever licensing agreements are in place with UMG will remain in place until they run their course. These articles are just a lot of speculation, no point taking them too seriously.

  • insertcoolnamehere

idk who half these niggas is is my point lol.

They don’t have to be household names yk

And that’s not a problem because Drake is a content creator before being an artist. Your either a Drake fan or not, it’s not about good nor bad.

i think the infrastructure will come from his friends and financiers at Stake and Kick with him as the figurehead poaching artists away from majors with deals that don’t require repayment as they are structured into the larger umbrella business as part of the losses and research/development, thereby attracting even more talent to his movement…that’s if that’s what i think they tryna do

Drake could get financial backing whenever and from whoever, he could've gone independent anytime.

Its much more difficult (and stupid) than people think

the infrastructure he’s received from stake and kick did not exist when he signed his half a billion dollar deal

since then, he’s probably made that in just a few years working for them via boosting their clip farms that the industry unknowingly created. i genuinely think they gonna fund his next move and why they tryna firmly establish these social media hiphop pages to challenge s*** like Chaotic Good where the content will be funneled through these entities and microinfluencers (4batz TikTok success was a test) and labels get nerfed

Isn't Chaotic Good more of a marketing/image thing than it is infrastructure?

Because they earn enough money to create the music they want to make and living a good life without having a normal job.
