Yeah, for me I preferred the structure of the previous games since you typically had a clear goal of what you were working towards
It’s basically Breath of the Wild open design where it lets you know your overarching goal but nothing else + Dark Souls
It’s fire

Theres only one goal in the others tho like this, n u have waypoints on ur map that point u to the next major moment/area.
I respect it tho.
Hot take I guess but I don't think being open world truly benefits the souls formula
Not a bad take though, I love this game and its actually up there with Witcher 3 for best open world games I have ever played.
If you were to ask me if I wanted Bloodborne 2 to be Open World or Linear I would have to say Linear.

Yharnam city as a full open world tho like Arkham Knight but better n intricate like this
If they did a bb in past of yharnam an open world would be fire.
Hunting beasts in the woods with diff factions n slowly peeling back the alien side through diff discoveries n events. The politics.
Would be wild, half city half forest n have a layer of the aliens.
Seeing parts of yharnam alive.

Wut u mean
I just mean the game does guide u if u want to follow it
The golden waves on your map point toward major grace points n point of interests is what i meant, regarding ur goal n what to do thing
Its a waypoint without being mandatory n in ur face
The game ist kinda a overkill of the souls formula.
I like the compact semi open world of Dark Souls more
This game does for me what I assume people felt when they played Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1 on release or for the first time

I meant like im deep enough in the game to understand the mechanics lol
I just prefer the smaller tightly crafted experience, which they do have in the major areas and that's where I enjoy this the most
Game is still heat though lol

Oh my bad i thot u meant u want more structure/guidance n i thot that would help.
Some still dont know the map grace thing.
Other parts i get, im not mad at either option for whatever the next title is.
These finger spider enemies are not fun at all lmao. There’s always that one thing that genuinely ruins the great momentum in a FromSoft game. I don’t understand why they do s*** like this. Let’s just fill a tiny room with like 15 of the same f***ing huge enemies that can run halfway across the ground in a split second and kill the player in two hits. S*** is just annoying it’s not even enjoyable
Game was doing good til I got to this location with the big ass vulture. I can’t even move just all stuttering.

The ugly stinky baby hand elephant things with teeth on their finger faces n the centipede ladies in ds3
Not as hot as you think, I haven’t played ER but I agree with you. Not interested in an open world - the strength of souls game has never really been the gameplay always the set pieces spectacle and immersion. I think all three of those benefit more from a linear structure
The thing is , if you played the game the classic set piece style and immersion of from software is still there and it’s even on a grander scale than ever before. Being open world didn’t diminished any of the strengths from software games have, it brought those strengths to new heights
what bosses have you guys killed?
so far i've got margit > godrick > magma wyrm > leonine misbegotten > loretta
