Shadow of the Erdtree introduces a new system, called Shadow Realm Blessing, to help level the playing field a little. Intrepid explorers are offered the chance to find and use a new consumable to apply a stackable buff that negates some incoming damage and increases the damage you cause to opponents in the Land of Shadow.
"More of the same"
did they think they were gonna make a new game for a DLC?!?

the movesets look crazy dont think from soft has ever given you movesets that are so fast paced
but zooming out and toggling between the discrete Lands of Shadow map and that of The Lands Between, it does appear that FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki was broadly right when he compared its size to that of Limgrave, Elden Ring's opening area. The Land of Shadow does look roughly comparable to Limgrave - but that's including the Weeping Peninsula area to the south, and even perhaps just a touch of Caelid. Point being: this area is big.
Limgrave alone took me around 40 hours lol, im expecting around 60 hours of play for me, perfect length, around as much as a 1st playthrough of any other from souls game
Elden ring had 30 altho some of them are mimic tear, godskin duo, magma wyrm and radagons red wolf.
From DLCs usually have a quality over quantity approach. I think the 40$ pricetag means we will get something slightly smaller than half of Elden Ring but alot less fluff. Since 2 legacy dungeons are already confirmed in the first small playable area I guess 3-4 seems realistic. All that on a smaller open world all sounds amazing
Elden ring has 308 weapons.
Once again sounds like a little bit less than half of the base game to me.
Since they introduce 8 new weapon types they will probably have a ton of variations of these weapon types and then also new weapons of old types

expansion could be a lot bigger/more dense than previews are portraying
gonna be crazy when the map keeps expanding as we collect more fragments
10 main story bosses is exciting. Elden ring doesnt have that many more, so it seems they managed to put a lot of original, high quality content in the map. At this rate, i think a 1 to 1 comparison with base game in terms of size may do a disservice to the expansion. Its clear that, while the general design is the same, the execution is far different, so the content might be plentiful and scattered inside a smaller, but more dense area.
What ive seen of the new weapon movesets has me salivating, and filled with ideas for some unique gimmick characters. Im glad they emphasized weapons, spells and weapon arts to this degree for the expansion of their most espansive, customizable and varied combat system yet, which is only gonna get better.
I heard they made the mini Erdtree melina can summon when she helps you against morgott an actual spell, and it has a VERY interesting description

I’m guessing the map is going to be more deep than wide. I could see them pulling a tears of the kingdom and giving us a bizarro map underneath the main one.
If this expansion can answer most of the unanswered questions from the base game (especially melina's entire character please miyaz) this might end up as my favorite from game
