stooges was one of the most brutal ones to leave off for me but had to justiy it since one album 60s, 2 in 70s

I have nostalgia factoring in to my love for Neil Young, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd and a few other but I didn't hear a lick of Beatles, Stones, Dylan or Kinks from my parents. The Band jist conjured the most vivid olde world rootsy jams imaginable for a couple years there and they still sound timeless.

The deep cuts are better but they had a couple songs that everyone knows from movies and s***

I swear you guys make rules limitations where that don't need to be any he had one classic in the 60s but arguably the goat American rock and roll album with Fun House and 3 other major classics in the 70s. It's not like we're voting for albums, you just need to address his contribution to the decade.

what i love about bowie is that he understands that chronic feeling of solitude and emptiness better than pretty much any other musician I've encountered. He might change style but he remains himself at the core. It's something far beyond dark atmosphere. It makes his music sometimes easy to digest because he is easily relatable but he often detests the grandiose gestures. Even if they are there in his music they never feel real. There is always something off. More effective than say Syd Barrett or Morphine to me.
