Don't think so

Kiss had that raw energy and crazy image. Plus they were bringing an American rock sound back

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU0eUGu2wSUThey got a lot of s*** cause they were lumped in with hard rock and heavy metal bands at the time, which just wasn’t their sound at all. They were much closer to glam and power pop. I think they’re still pretty spotty as a band, but the standouts are pretty nice. I really like Paul Stanley’s solo album. Goin’ Blind is amazing though.

All of their ‘78 solos had some good stuff. I love this side of Gene

Halfway through Haunting of Hill House
pretty good
I can’t do it with Mike Flanagan other than Midnight Mass.

true but i still would 100% say that hard rock is their overarching sound through every era
Don't think so

Sure, but they admittedly were pulling more from The New York Dolls and Slade than any of the standard hard rock of the time.

i think the glam rock influence is an underratedly important part of the hard rock sound anyway. There's a big difference in the stuff before that like Led Zeppelin/Deep Purple or something and then the bands coming after glam era few years later like Kiss, Queen, Van Halen. even ones like Aerosmith or Boston I hear the glam
(and see the glam lol)

Glam is kind of a vauge descriptor anyway. There’s a sound I associate with it, but I tend to view it as an inherently nostalgic genre that bridges the gap between 60’s styles (girl groups, psychedelia, baroque pop, etc) and eventual New Wave. It’s weird what people consider glam and not. The first few ELO records get labeled that, but their mid to late 70’s stuff fits in more neatly with what I think of as the genre. It’s a similar thing with Queen. Once they release Night at the Opera, they’re suddenly not glam anymore for some reason. But you’re right, I do hear it in some of the hard rock groups.

yeah i think also because it's so embedded in rock its hard to put a finger on. also feel like there's a distinct guitar approach i feel with it too. maybe in the tone especially
there's kind of an X-factor type quality that you know when you hear it. Like when something is super glammed up and you can almost smell the glam oozing from it
we love glam
