That was never gonna happen. Any chance of the show coming back in 2021 died when the pandemic shutdown filming last year. Early 2022 was always the earliest it would be back. Their filming two seasons back to back.

what makes you think it’s for the sake? they’re showing the rise of paper boy and the racial climate surrounding that, it would naturally get darker once they enter the music industry. it’s not sunshine & skittles after all.

In season 2 the darker tone served its purpose that it wanted to get across for the characters. The show can still have plenty of stakes and drama without getting even darker than season 2. The cops beat down a mentally ill man in Episode 2 of season 1 for Christ sakes. What more do you want.
