I served and bartended. As a bartender yeah let's keep the tipping custom. As a server
those slow days where I only got 2-3 tables and the tips were just a couple of bucks or nothing had me questioning everything
yeah i bartended for a summer and working the floor >> behind bar imo
but bar money >>>>>>>>
The fact we have someone literally arguing to tip bad waiters 15 percent. Lmao, the entitlement.
Servers in America get on these soapboxes and start speaking like entitled panhandlers.
"IT HAS TO BE 20 PERCENT"
Literally arguing about some arbitrarily set charity wage you get from a customer that scales with the price of the customers order.
I don't even know how you can be a rational being and argue tipping a bad server 15 percent. You're just being annoying, stop posting.
People tip waiters because its customary. They are not barbers, delivery drivers, or taxi drivers.
They're the dudes at JFK who ask you for tips after baggage checks.
Like how did you get 20 pages out of this topic
People tip waiters out of custom because the reality is they get paid less then 5 or 7 an hour based on where they live.
If they're that bad of workers they'd probably be fired and if they weren't fired that place would probably be s***ty enough to go out of business anyway
They're entitled to a living wage imo; it's only screwed up in the US because the customer has to provide it
For sure, it's a tricky thing.
The truth of the matter is all servers should be paid at least minimum wage, minimum wage needs to be much higher, and people should still tip.
Do you anti tippers not tip bartenders either?
they legally have to earn at least minimum wage.
Cuts are 30. He been cutting me for 4 years tho lol
I always did $5 extra but I feel you. I hope those cuts are clean af if you paying $50 every two weeks tho. I pay about $75-80/month getting my locs retwisted and styled ($65 for the service, $10-15 tip depending on how she did)
u arnt high and mighty for tipping... you just doing what most people do. you asking for participation trophies.
That person is b**** made. He would never take that stance towards cutting emissions and tackling climate change.
Its not even a widespread practice. He really grandstanded over tipping.
Man I just left the airport and I tipped two baggage niggas 30 percent.
Some of these people are so childish. If I give someone a tip its because I want to. This weird moral bullying over an arguably braind dead practice is f***ing hilarious
You guys are really putting the wages of minority waiters in the hands of racists and going "well he is an a****** for giving a low tip" as if that changes the fact she's going to make 7.25 depending on the state she's in
These threads are stupid, stop making them
Americans tip waiters because its customary. We aren't going to stop, we don't care. It is stupid, and waiters are probably happier getting tipped than not.
I repeat stop making these threads
This person livelihood shouldn't be up to my hands (I'm not their boss or signing their paycheck)
I just want to eat
require all places to pay a full wage and let customers not worry about it
people who can actually afford to eat out still will with the increased cost

@americana does practice what he preaches for the most part unlike some people grandstanding

Waiters get paid at least 7.25 depending on the state. And that depends is because they can get paid higher in a state like Hawaii or etc.
Anything lower than that and you should consult a lawyer. Which no one will, waiters are not suing people over their s*** heap server job.

7.25 is not a sufficient wage for anywhere in America to live on.

i’m a pescatarian and i compost
i don’t use plastic water bottles and i bike locally
i work in a tenants union
i own a business that pays its workers far more than livable wages while still turning a profit
what else do u want

And thats a whole different argument in regards to raising the minimum wage. Because 7.25 is the federal minimum
they legally have to earn at least minimum wage.
No they don't. I worked at Olive Garden when I was younger and I made 2.50 an hour.

So you agree waiters should ultimately be paid more and tipping should be phased out.
When I would deliver pizza and someone wouldn’t tip they could barely even look me in the eye lmao. I’d always be nice and wouldn’t switch up even if I saw I wasn’t getting a tip but I always thought that was funny
They’d try to hide the receipt handing it back to me as if I couldn’t see the big ass 0 they put on the tip line
Cuts are 30. He been cutting me for 4 years tho lol
kuya ballin
I don't eat out at resteraunts anymore specifically because of this s***. Saved me a lot of money too over time.
It's just a pain. But if you are gonna go, you should be tipping. Until these s***heads are forced to pay their workers good wages, it'll be homemade food for me (and fast food once in awhile).
yeah i bartended for a summer and working the floor >> behind bar imo

Had a dude who was at the bar my first day on the job. Man gave me a $20 tip just for being there and then another $20 every time he saw me. A brother helping brothers, king s***
No they don't. I worked at Olive Garden when I was younger and I made 2.50 an hour.
that was your base pay
"If the employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 per hour do not equal the federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference"
