How does this powerful line from a children’s movie make you think about life and where we are today?
Do we have “too much” variety today that nothing appears exceptionally unique anymore?
for example, in the NBA, there is a wrong sentiment that teams are all running the same offenses (because of clip culture and the shift to more 3s) when in reality all teams are running way unique offenses full of multi-faceted players playing multiple positions which should make the game as watched as ever and appreciated, no?
I think the great and unique stuff still stands out.
Going back to your basketball example look at someone like Jokic. Probably the 2nd best player I’ve ever watched in real time. He’s like an artist the way he plays and sees the game
i had this is revelation the other day thinking about the nba. there are a ton of good teams but since everyone is good everyone kinda is unremarkable as a result.
social media made us numb to a lot of this feels like things are less remarkable now since we see the best of everything on the internet

jokic and sga are two of my favorite players of all time seeing jokic’s rise is one of those things that gave me hope for the future of basketball but the cap rules spreads talent out between teams so these guys can’t really build lasting dynasties

Yeah SGA is nuts. This three season run he’s been on he’s been one of the best pure scorers we’ve ever seen and he’s doing this as a two way point guard.
Sounds like some goofy infinite tsukiyomi s***
you gone have to break that one down for me gang
The basis of this statement is envy. The idea that everyone must be equal to avoid envy and jealousy. Its nonsense, envy and jealousy should never be your motivation

Like when a super villian thinks they can save the world by shifting to some extreme new reality that is inherently motivated by said villians insecurities or philosophy
No one man should have all that power

just seen it’s a shippuden reference
let me tap back in, thank you.
Sounds like communism, yuck!
I think its harder to stand out now definitely but you can still shine the brightest once you make it through

same- i know it’s got its defenders but it’s such a long arc too that i don’t really have time to rewatch it. Someone told me it’s like a third of the series

Ehh, not necessarily imo. Pointing out inequities isn't always rooted in jealousy. The selfish are those who would feel less than everyone else if everyone was the same
Like the mom on the current season of white lotus saying she'd pretty much rather die than not be rich
dumbass thread lowkey
the nba example bad too
f*** SGA

yea f*** that, but thankfully the nerds definitely have a minimized episode outline that covers everything
