Detox was announced in 03 n suppose to originally in 04, then it had a bunch of stops and starts up to 2013/2014 before he finally hung it up and did Compton as a refresher in 2015

Dre son died in 08, nate Dogg died in 2011, beats happened late 2000s and exploded early 2010s which then fizzled out late 2010s, he signed em in 99/00, 50 in 02, Game in 03, and did a bunch of work with many artists

Yeah announced in 02 with a tentative 04 release date. Both beats and his son happened in 2008. So 6 years after announcement and already 4 years late on release.

But yeah like I’m not saying he wasn’t busy but having prime 50, prime em and prime game in your corner would have been the absolute best time to drop detox lol. 50 and Em alone were writing hit after hit that they would have gave to him
