YANDHILike i get the move by Trump cus he's desperate, but i doubt the ability of the U.S. to impose governance on a Strait that close to Iran.
Iran doesn't need to conventionally blockade like the U.S. is announcing they'll do. 1 successful attack at commercial ships, even with U.S. defenses will leave insurers not risking it. Then Iran still has escalation dominance if Houthis join on Red Sea again
21 hours of diplomacy is nothing. Especially when you're not utilizing your own State Department diplomats and negotiators. Takes months at minimum to talk through these topics
More about he don’t want put soldiers in Iran so this the play to avoid that but if NATO and other countries actually help it could work

Its an insanely, insanely difficult strategy they're trying though. It's clear Trump doesn't prefer to put boots on ground, but blockading Hormuz will put the blame on the U.S. rather than Iran, because now they're the ones stopping shipments to and from their own allies and leading adversary. U.S. putting warships and carriers in is an actual blockade whereas Iran scared off ships and insurers by attacking a couple.
Trump's able to be influenced by domestic pressure too, and energy prices flying back up will be due to U.S. blockade. And what if Chinese ships come through? Do you seize China's ships?

China war with Us isn’t going be through military at least not yet. China cares entirely way too much about its economy right now and plus wants beat Us in technology and manufacturing and resources and they believe they can do that. I believe China won’t go through the strait and find an alternative but also blockade puts pressure on Iran and takes away some the leverage they have with the strait
