There's much going on in the geopolitical space beyond the confines of the war. Trump is keen to meet Xi in Beijing and already had to delay. Any drastic U.S. moves here and that gets canceled. China also has non-military means to exert power over U.S. like rare earth export controls. You don't want to overplay your hand now if you're the U.S.

U.S. carrier groups have stayed VERY far from Hormuz because of Iranian strike range. They were very scared of getting hit these last 6 weeks. In Hormuz they're sitting ducks exposed to worse damage than the U.S. navy has seen in generations.

China's already slowly acting more boldly than they have in recent years. Even with Taiwan they're extending olive branches for trade and engagement following KMT summit. U.S. over-action now will be seen as escalatory

Unrealistic at this point. A lot of the core components Biden tried to hail like strong Europe ties, globalism, "rules-based order," etc... are widely acknowledged dead now. We're in a different phase of history for better or worse and anyone not understanding that will lose. Trump 1.0 was far more a traditional presidency than 2.0 has been. So much has happened its easy to forget Biden was President 15 months ago.

With nearly 3 years of Trump left who even knows what structures emerge come 2029. You can't undo this and no ones going to be convinced by a country that chaotically swaps Presidents and/or parties and goals every 4 years anymore.
