$40 for a record is a new thing, 2 lps used to be less than $30 pre covid, the production costs are literally the same and the technology has only become more in demand in the last few years

there is quite literally zero reason two lps are $60 now except for the fact that labels are weaponizing physicals to extract as much money out of fans buying up sixty different versions of an album as possible. the markup is like 2.5 times the production cost if not more for no reason

highk i full on blame mach hommy navy blue and westside gunn for this f*** s*** and for giving hov and other mainstream artists ideas. id blame nipsey too but hes not here to see the negative impact of crenshaw

there are underground rappers right now with a fraction of listeners that these other rappers have and they make sure theres always records in stock for a reasonable price in diff colors. it is completely possible to do that and remain in the green with catalogs as big as theirs
