Just finished this and all I gotta say is... wow. Fantastic film. Still trying to process everything and that ending.
Lakeith is incredibly versatile.
I absolutely f***ing hated his character, but that just means he did a really great job in his role. He plays a good villian
Didn’t they say he never had any formal acting training he just googled “how to act” ?
Pretty good adaptation though it still can’t help feeling like a Wikipedia biopic a number of times
Still, I do like that they told a pretty humanizing story here and one that respected the authenticity of the subject and it’s characters
Lol what does Wikipedia biopic mean
Lol what does Wikipedia biopic mean
Like it just feels like a straightforward A to B biopic plot
He’s a not a believable actor to me. Bruh was the weakest link in FNL and he’s become the biggest actor off of it besides MBJ smh
Plemons hate 🤨

Lmao you mean a linear film?
Lmao you mean a linear film?
like a formulaic biopic film
TSN was a linear film too but it had so much style and felt like a film only Fincher could have made
I feel like anybody could have made this film

TSN wasn't linear bro....it's a nonlinear film

oh yeah that is true. But regardless, most biopics suffer from this issue of just feeling generic and like something anyone could've made

definitely but those tend to be "this was such and such as a kid, this is what he went through, this was the turning point, this is him now"
This movie wasn't that at all, like who would this even be considered a typical biopic of? Like yea its a biopic in the sense of it's a true story, but its no more of a biopic than the 2nd Steve Jobs movie with Fessbender
This story was more about Bill too

I mean this was still pretty straightforward as a biopic and while it’s not about a characters life, it is about a real event and it really just goes to the details to just describe everything like something you could read on Wikipedia
The Fassbender Steve Jobs movie takes huge fictional liberties and really ends up being about this 3 act dialogue exercise which feels more like a poetic play rather than a straightforward biopic

They were going for The Departed black panther version bro, they even said it had to be done like that thriller style in order for it to get made, not a reg bio pic style
Had it been a biopic it woulda followed fred all the way through instead of making lakeith the main focus
TSN wasn't linear bro....it's a nonlinear film
Bro just be talking out his ass
Would y'all say this is a film that capitalizes on black trauma? Haven't seen it yet but I'm uneasy knowing how fred's story played out in real life

This film is not exploitive.

It is a lot more about the FBI dismantling of the Black Panther party and their inherent systemic racism than Hampton as a human being and leader so yes I would say this still technically capitalizes on black trauma
With that said, it’s a lot more humanizing of the Black Panther party and Hampton than you’d expect from a black trauma Hollywood movie. While Hampton feels like a clear supporting character here, his anti capitalist views are definitely not toned down and he is presented more often as a genuine person rather than just somebody to preach to an audience.
they asked him an important question at the end when they interviewed him and imo he was physically because he was there but not in mind or in soul he did not truly believe in the movement in he did not care what was going on if you go to the beginning you can see what i am talking about, i dont want to give nothing away for the ppl who did not watch it yet

lol he was in uncut gems he did well there and lol he plays a cool but wierd guy in ATL

Lol I know of his work fam I’m a fan. Just was wondering if that rumor is true that he’s never had traditional acting training. Like going to school and acting classes
