Is it good
Yes worth every buck as a Metroid 2D fan lol I literally left work on my break got my package and switch and played this at work until I got off and played it all night last night lol
Man the fact they managed to keep the lore and story writing of first mission, the thrill and action of fusion, and the game play of Samus returns 3DS is soooooooooooo good. I'm so happy with this game. The EMMI are like the SA-X but cranked up to 10000.
game looks dope. nintendo don't do graphics, VA or networking well but they do make solid ass games, which is what its all about
So the EMMI counter basically works whenever it wants to work.
nahh the timing is random between like 3-5 differently timed animations and you have to infer when you think its gonna happen
that way you cant reliably always counter
This game came out at the perfect time
I just smoked and then was cold with the window open so I threw on a blanket and now my room dark and running Dread
Atmosphere on lock in this game
So the EMMI counter basically works whenever it wants to work.
Ain't nothing more satisfying than taking them lil b******s out. S*** be hitting every time
is metroid prime 4 gonna pick up after this i wonder? 🤔
Doubt it the Prime series of games takes place between Metroid and Metroid II in the timeline
Actually I suppose there is a possibility Prime 4 can take place after Dread since the narrative in the Prime trilogy wraps up after Federation Force. Prime 4 realistically could take place anywhere in the timeline now

See the Prime series is up in the air now. Nintendo recently has started to separate the prime series and other M from the 2D 5 part series. There was even a recent podcast done with Nintendo Power where the game devs has said that Metroid main timeline only consist of Metroid/Zero Mission to Dread and doesn't include Prime or other M. But it's weird because other M artwork is in Dread.
It just seems like Nintendo doesn't want the prime series to cause confusion so they kind of just makes it fit within the 2D timeline, but consider them two separate series. So who knows.

Dread is a game that has been conceptualized since like 2005 I think, so there are some ideas they originally had in mind for Dread that ended up in Other M.
I might have to check out Other M against after I finish up with Dread so I can piece together their similarities

Nintendo sucks at producing a timeline and now the Metroid manga, Prime series, and other M are considered "sub stories" and not apart of the main timeline. It's funny because someone pointed out that Ridley is a secret boss in Samus returns 3D and he has the metal armor from the Prime series, but in super Metroid he no longer has it. So who knows.

Nah Prime has always been a sub-story taking place between Metroid I and II lol also Ridley isn't a secret boss he's the legitimate final boss of Samus Returns 3D. The metal plating he has on him is his final reconstruction kinda armor. Remember in Metroid I, albeit it an NES game and they had limitation on what they could do, Ridley was blown up.
In the Prime trilogy, Ridley comes back but he's cybernetically enhanced and he's known as Meta Ridley. Throughout the Prime trilogy he keeps getting beaten and he gets more enhancements until he is eventually corrupted by the Phazon energy (Omega Ridley). Despite being corrupted, it gave him the ability of regeneration. So the Ridley that's the final boss in Samus Returns 3D is pretty much Ridley in his final stage of his regeneration and the remaining in-organic metal plating he has are there until he finishes his regeneration for Super Metroid.
It's definitely a massive mess of a timeline but it seems like Nintendo has been doing what they can to retcon some things in order for it to make some sense lmao
The best way to explain Ridley within the context of the time line is:
Metroid Zero Mission: Ridley is destroyed, saved by his space pirates and they begin repairing him. Mecha Ridley is just an incomplete fully robotic version of Ridley that was being built by Ridley.
Metroid Prime 1: Ridley is back with cybernetic enhancements and is now Meta Ridley.
Metroid Prime 2: Meta Ridley is not present in this.
Metroid Prime 3: Meta Ridley is back and is beaten in the prologue/tutorial of the game. Comes back corrupted by the Phazon energy and is now Omega Ridley. The Phazon corruption is what allowed him to begin regenerating his organic body parts.
Metroid: Samus Returns 3D: Ridley is back with fewer cybernetic enhancements as the Phazon has regenerated enough of his body parts at this point.
Super Metroid: Ridley is fully healed with no cybernetics. He is destroyed in this.
Metroid: Other M: Clone Ridley is born and is later drained by the Queen Metroid. The Galactic Federation recovers the clone's remains and sends it to the BSL station in Fusion for experimentation.
Metroid Fusion: The X parasite fuses with the remains of the clone Ridley and they make a new version of Ridley called "Neo Ridley".
can’t buy this full price knowing it’s a 6 hour game despite my love for 2D metroid
