Need 1080p in handheld or it’s a pass.

Not happening, too expensive, would drain the battery too fast and on top of that no switch game would reach 1080p resolution on handheld. We're gonna have to wait for switch 2 to have that

and the current dock already does many games in 1080p @ 60fps

so just think about a logical 5 year upgrade and do your research on latest Nvidia chips

we never need 1080p for handheld

can your eyes really notice 1920 pixels horizontally on a 7" screen compared fo 1440 pixels?

BOTW and Pokemon Sw/Sh could potential see higher frames but idk if any backend optimization would have to happen and if it would you can bet Nintendo would rather move forward unlike Xbox's optimization

just because you have more power doesnt mean older games that were capped on OG Switch will automatically run better and thats where Nintendo has to be careful as Xbox is handling that move VERY well

Yeah i dont think nintendo would update older titles to run better if switch pro is that kind of upgrade. I wouldnt mind tho, i can live with that if the next Mario, botw2, Metroid prime 4, bayonetta 3, new monolith and pokemon run better on it and would justify a purchase for me

not all handheld games are fixed at 720p, some are dynamic or flat out 540p

MarioKart and Smash run 720 nicely
Astral Chain runs 720p and is crisp
same with Mario Odyssey too

Xenoblade and Zelda run sub720p though

If a Switch revision is coming later this year then BotW 2 must be coming along with it Was starting to think BotW 2 would join us in 2022 with Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus after Aonuma refused to talk about the game at the last Direct, but the Switch revision rumors give me hope that BotW 2 could be coming this year.

Switch is also very underpower even compared to ps4 etc. If next switch is such a substantial upgrade these new round of leaks claim, it wont keep up & the downgrade ports will look & be terrible like just about every "cutting edge" 3rd party ps4 x1 games ported over to current switch.

Idk about that dude, the examples you posted are entirely different consoles. Gba and ds are fundamentally different consoles, same with 3ds and switch. They cant make a game that can release on both switch and 3ds. Switch pro gonna have supposedly dlss which is an AI increasing performance so games will still be developed with og switch in mind but they can also run on this switch pro. Think of it like a ps4 to ps4 pro, ps4 pro was slightly more powerful but it didnt stop ps4 support

@Water_Giver you're listing consoles from entirely different gens. Switch pro is a mid gen console, like switch lite is. GBA and NDS are too different and are parts of different generstions. NDS had different hardware, different concept (touchscreen, 2 screens, stylus) and it was their new console for the new generation

Think you missed the point, that -they- themselves said they would support all of them, & then didnt. Its always a bold face lie.

GBA & DS were not meant to be separate, neither was DS & 3DS. They were not marketed as at first & were told they were not successors but are companions pieces, same with Switch & 3DS. It is pretty much a joke & a meme at this.

And again, considering if this "pro" is true, it is way more than a pro. It is a next gen system. 4k 60 isnt even fathomable for current switch, lot of stuff arent even ttrue 1080 dock or true 720 handheld. The current switch can barley run true 8th gen games, who honestly thinks it'll be able to run 9th gen or 8 & a 3rd gen games? Either the new switch will be held back by old switch, or the old will get left.

3ds last game was released in 2019 so technically they didnt stop support, during switch they launched Metroid samus returns, fire emblem echoes, minecraft, persona q2 and shin megami tensei strange journey redux and these are the big examples, ther were also indies and smaller titles. They had to stop at some point to support the switch since it was their moneymaker at that point.
Gba had ace combat, a fire emblem game, a mario party game, a mario tennis game, a donkey kong game after ds released. They stopped at some point because the nintendo ds was their moneymaker.
The switch pro situation is different because:
1. If it upscales to 4k its gonna have to use dlss which is AI induced upscaling so the base game would be the same for both consoles, but only the pro could upscale these games. The software will run on both hardwares, but will run better on one type.
2. Nintendo switch has 80 million users they cant and wont ignore until a truly next gen console, Nintendo wont market it as a successor and before this there was the switch lite that had the same games as the normal switch despite lacking what it made it a switch. Switch pro is gonna be like a switch lite but in the opposite direction, focusing more on dock rather than the handheld, so they'd naturally have to increase performance.
