Blame Ryan Reynolds if Deadpool 3 trash tbh because he’s the head writer pretty much
that's good news because i'd rather him than some jerk off they hire from flops who wrote king arthur and i frakenstein and s***.
Nostalgia bait has to stop if they want to make progress with the franchise and they need to get real writers on board not some executive's nephew who pays for naughty america videos instead of getting it for free to be responsible for crafting these stories.
To me:
Force Awakens - 6.5/10 (Enjoyed the characters and worldbuilding, but the plot did seem like a safe rehashing of previous plot points)
Last Jedi - 6/10 (This one tears me in two. Some amazing cinematography and high highs..but also some of the worst character decisions of potentially any SW property bar)
Rise Of Skywalker - 3/10 (Absolute trash movie imo. Least redeeming qualities of any SW property. I'd rate every prequel higher than this)
Rogue One - 6.5/10 (tbh even though it had a better and more unique plot than TFA, the characters didn't hit for me. Can't remember a single name)
Solo - 7.5/10 (enjoyed this movie more than most people, I think lol. To me its a genuinely good sci-fi action film. Lots of tension, compelling characters, and good worldbuilding)
And I can't be bothered to do short write-ups for the shows rn but
Mando S1 - 8/10
Mando S2 - 7/10
Boba Fett - 5/10
Obi-Wan (so far) - 6/10
Force Awakens - 7/10 (Enjoyed the characters and worldbuilding, the plot had a lot of safe rehashing of previous plot points but the new characters in it felt like they had a lot of potential, some of the better dog fights in the sequel trilogy as well, snow fight is underrated)
Last Jedi - 10/10 (amazing cinematography and some of the highest highs of SW period, the Finn/Rose sub plot is not as bad as people make it out to be, Luke’s character writing is absolutely brilliant, Rey being a nobody is amazing, royal guard fight, snoke getting his b**** ass sliced in half, the kamikaze moment
yoda’s “we are what they grow beyond” moment
Luke’s duel with Kylo, his death scene
this film is a f***ing triumph, i’ll die on this hill gladly)
Rise Of Skywalker - 1/10 (Absolute dog s*** movie imo. Least redeeming qualities of any SW property. I'd rate every prequel higher than this, it spits on SW in general, it spits on TLJ’s whole message, this is not canon. I refuse, this movie is that bad, i f***ing loathe this piece of s*** movie with every part of my soul, I refuse to ever see this again. Glad when i did see it i didn’t contribute a single cent to do so)
Rogue One - 8/10 (K2SO alone makes this a 8, Vader sequence is hard as f***, i am one with the force and the force is with me moment, the cinematography, the dark troopers, only wish that these characters were a bit more memorable, krenic was a great villain for this as well, the ending is beautiful and a statement on what sacrifices had to be made for the war to have been won.)
Solo - 8/10 (under appericated tbh, i really enjoyed this film. It’s not perfect but man i just loved spending time in SW having just the tension of the underworld. I think some of the lighting is a little off for me and in retrospect Maul wasn’t a needed cameo for the film but still i liked this a lot… oh and the music is so f***ing good)
Mando S1 - 8.5/10 (this felt fresh for the time it was out, I just want more new characters secluded in their own little part of the galaxy when they go on adventures, it felt a little redundant in terms of structure but still… I enjoyed this…. I have spoken)
Mando S2 - 6/10 ( have a feeling from this point on these Mando shows will only get worse because after this SZN i felt the point of the show was gone and having grogu come back as a cash grab just feels annoying to say the least. Cameos were cool but unneeded tbh idk decent season.)
Boba Fett - 2/10 ( so f***ing lame and boring, Mando SZN 2.5 was cringe, feels like they just truly half assed this show. Jon and Dave should feel embarrassed really… this show is why i am convinced it’s not Disney’s sole fault for why some of these projects are so garbage… I just think there’s very few writers and directors that seem to actually get these characters. Even the ones we trust like Jon and Dave have been inconsistent in the past and especially here. If they can f*** up this bad… if George Lucas can f*** up his s*** this bad then man…)
Obi-Wan (so far) - 5.5/10 (I might be a little forgiving of the most recent episode because this kinda s*** is routine in SW. but yeah at the same time that episode is filler in the worst ways possible but episode 3 is really carrying the show in terms of keeping me interested in any way shape or form. I do like a lot of little things about this show but i feel the redundant save the kid and have them tag along in your adventure plot has been done to death now and I’m quite tired of it.)
yo that ice cube son??
What's supposed to be the reason we hate him for? Remember his tweet
Did anyone else find it funny that the Empire submerged that youngling in the tank WITH HIS HELMET ON? Like the writers had to keep the helmet on to tell the audience its a youngling
Heavily disagreed in terms of what we are defining as cash grabs then
Specifically in regards to TLJ Finn had a arc that people straight up just didn’t understand at all, I could argue every “dumbass decision” that was made within the film to serve a broader narrative function and fit the wider trilogy narrative.
Rian had a plan and executed his plan, The over arching trilogy was not mapped out properly by KK.
If this had been a cash grab the choices made within the film wouldn’t have been made. Especially the choices for Luke’s character.
They changed the background story for each character in the ST each movie

Made Oscar Isaac a d*** dealer

Rian didn’t, he followed the guidelines and mysteries set up in TFA and did his thing. He was consistent with every character
You’re thinking of TROS
Made Oscar Isaac a d*** dealer
To be fair they did that in the og trilogy too
. But JJ doesn’t have the scope of George Lucas

Finns arc in the first two are similar to Hans first two without the dying aspect. Rise of sky walker we don’t get into.
I hate that this thread keeps reminding me that episode 9 exists
need to suffer some brain damage so I can forget that steaming pile of dogshit

TROS trash
I won’t defend any of that trash
His arc in TFA and TLJ are different they might just feel similar to people.
His arc in TFA is about finding trust and friendship in others (with Rey and Poe)
In TLJ it’s about fighting for a good cause instead of just looking out for himself and his own loved ones.

Brain Damage won’t be enough. People will remind you of it’s existence anytime SW is brought up

I can see how people would misinterpreted the text of the character’s arc though because these two things can be interpreted as the same but they definitely aren’t.
As TFA makes it clear when Finn wants to invade StarKiller base he’s only there to rescue Rey, that’s it… he purposely mislead the resistance with his level of intel just to be able to do the mission in the first place.

It’s kind of like the inversion of Hans Arc where New hope is about fighting for a good cause while empire is about his friends

Precisely and if people wanna critique that as too similar to Han’s arc or just not as interesting as any of the other characters then that’s fine. I would just like to have people be aware of what exactly they don’t like
Disney still cannot get lightsabers right, Obi wan looks like he’s carrying around a 40 pound sword

As George said “Star Wars is supposed to Rhyme”
