"In the series, 10 years have passed since Revenge, so what is your process for this iteration of the character? Do you still consider some vestiges from Anakin in him at this time that you wanted to make sure shined through?

Yes, I always see Anakin as a throughline and an undercurrent to this character. Vader is trying his best to kill off that side of him, but there always has to be a little bit of Anakin in there. And that presents itself, and that’s a part of the fun. I’m always thinking about the Anakin aspect of this character.“

“I loved the Mapuzo fight because it reminded me of the duel in A New Hope. The confrontation was more about the meaning of the fight, rather than the battle itself. When your characters fought in Revenge, it was this eye-popping spectacle, but this was slow and deliberate. Can you expand on this from your mind’s eye?

Well, I think that came as a shock to Vader to see how disconnected from the Force Obi-Wan is at this point. I think Vader wants Obi-Wan to be able to put up more of a fight. I don’t want to say too much about what’s to come.“

Ofc there has to be some Anakin in there otherwise his redemption in ROTJ couldn't happen (the point is that it will only come MUCH later).

But mind you what Hayden says here is more or less his own interpretation of the character which somewhat contradicts what the WRITER of the show said about Vader (basically calling him an eye-for-an-eye force of evil).

Idk about u but I think the mf who pens the script has a more clear idea of the intent behind the characters.

You’re wrong
Actors inform their characters most times more than the writing does and these are discussions that happen on set. The writing just gives the basis.

There was even recent interview with Debrah chow where she said that ewan and Hayden gave input on set on lines or actions that their characters would or wouldn’t say or do.

His interpretation is 100% how it’s portrayed so it’s clear that the intent is the same .

if ima be honest the whole sequel trilogy could’ve been about luke training the next jedi with rey and kylo being among them. Kylo still goes dark in the second and rey is the only one who survives and by the third they face off. Not even any need for a first order or bringing palpatine back
