the next leap like that, will be when we can get neurolink-esque devices (probably a none evasive version) with vr with micro LEDs.
but if game engines progressed their realistic physics past what half life 2 did (which they havent really imo) then it would be a good step.
and worked hard to mitigate s*** like clipping, made 3d model facial animations not ass.
as far as how many pixels we can fit to make stuff look “realistic” theres no need to push further in that direction. more than enough to make an amazing looking game. game devs just dont know what to do with it

Yeah I mean they kind of just improved upon an existing concept. You could connect a PSP to a tv too, it just didn’t always translate

The leap from duck hunt to Wii sports is much bigger than a console that connects to a tv and also has its own screen, imo. I remember my first time playing Wii sports

I never remember the PS2 wowing me with graphics(maybe Gran Turismo 3)I think PS2 wowed me with gameplay/how big games could be more then anything.
Yeah the scale of something like GTA was mindblowing at the time but there were a few visual stunners too - Gran Turismo 3/4, FF10, Dragon Quest VIII
