Which games were your highlights
Most of the exclusive games of course so mainly the DK, Pokémon and Mario stuff.
Crazy how I expressed a desire for the Galaxy collection to happen in an Instagram comment weeks ago only for it to come to fruition

IIRC someone on here said a 3D Mario collection would happen before Mario 3D All-Stars was officially announced
I’m continuously trying to relive the high of 2019 Switch
That was my favorite year and direct
Mario Maker 2 (my most played game at 700 hours)
Pokémon Sword/Shield
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Yoshis Crafted World
Links Awakening
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Tetris 99
Ring Fit Adventure
Animal Crossing reveal (release in 2020)
S*** has not yet been topped
Nintendo should be ashamed they thought this was okay to air

It didn’t feel that much different from most Switch 1 Directs honestly (which could be considered a problem in itself).
If we see more current-gen day-&-date ports like RE9 frequently then yeah, Switch 2 will truly feel like next-gen Nintendo outside of the 1st-party efforts.
With all these bad directs, I’m starting to look at the poor battery life and lackluster screen a little different
Speaking of Resident Evil, I wonder what’s the strategy of releasing the NS2 ports of RE7 & RE8 on the exact same day as Requiem..
They couldn’t get those old games out this year to sort of build an audience for RE games on NS2 before RE9 drops?

I believe when it’s all said and done, the February 2019 Direct was the best one of the Switch 1 era, and they maintained that momentum with the E3 Direct that same year (the Smash hype and TOTK reveal did a lot of heavy lifting).
And the software lineup for the 2nd half of 2019 was nothing short of amazing, just banger after banger
The Smash hype during Ultimate was unmatched..
Personally I think they should just make an NS2 Edition of Ultimate (or 'Deluxe' version) just to get it out the door asap since a brand-new Smash made from the ground up will realistically take at least 3 years to develop.
Lol whats gonna be the difference between the upcoming Mario Galaxy 1 and the one that was on Super Mario 3D All Stars
Nintendo gets to run a lick out in the open, that’s the only difference

Difference is this one promotes a movie
the difference is double the money on nintendos bank account
New one is a 4K remaster with a couple goodies
Galaxy 2 was only in 480p before so 4k is a big bump

Seeing this logo makes me so proud
Didn’t give a rat’s ass about the first Mario movie cus the voices seemed so cringe lmao, but a new movie based on GALAXY?! Sign me the f**k up
they gonna pay $40 for a re-release yall
Honestly thought this direct was fire
enough of my niggas have been clowning me cause of it but still. Lots to look forward to these next few months the

This is one of my biggest issues really. The announcements were so poor that finally getting an ok ish one in the RE ports is like "ok, interesting" but then you see its not out for months and months and the same day as the new RE..like what's the point lmao
Just rewatched the Direct
It was a C- for me
Definitely not terrible. There was stuff I liked and even loved
But the first major Direct for a new console, it needed to be at least A tier. It was just overall very underwhelming. It didn’t get me excited for the future of this shiny new console we just bought
This Direct was fine at best

The messaging was weird, there was a bunch of spring 2026 games and while there is a few first party games coming out until the end of the year it makes you wonder why there is no first party games coming out from January till March at least...

Pancake weren’t you the one saying over and over again that LCD screens were better now?

Reflecting, I think you’re right. It was missing that HUGE 1st party game announcement. We needed that big 3D Mario / 3D Zelda announcement. This direct needed that Seitch 2 generation defining game announcement. To let us know: “this groundbreaking game is coming soon, please be patient”. Yes we got that with DK Bananza. Bananza is a masterpiece and GOTY material. It will probably be on the top 5 / top 10 all timer Switch 2 games when it’s all said and done, but that’s 1 game at the first 2 months of the system.
We needed at least a tease to let us know “hey, this game is around the corner, trust us that you didn’t waste your money or time on us”.
And there was not a single game in this direct that told us that

And the whole spring 2026 lineup felt more like having something for the Switch 1 fans and to have games around the new Mario movie...
I hope the January/February Direct is gonna be better... It's gonna be Zelda's 40th by then so hopefully they show the rumored OoT remake

It didn’t, they’re not trying to do that s*** anymore and im glad. F*** the whole “this is our next big game and now wait” s***. Give the games coming over the next 5-6 months like Kirby and Metroid their just dues, let them shine before pulling attention to something further out. 2026 will have a big game but we don’t need to hear about it now. If anything the direct should’ve had Metroid at the end and a bigger trailer with more fanfare and a further direct announcement

If you don't have a Switch 2 now, I don't really see the reason to be excited about buying one which says a lot for me
