Guys can you please help me?
So is anything Nintendo Switch (OLED) related worth it at this point? Like the thing itself, the pro controller or anything else related to it?
I mean the Pro controller works on the Nintendo Switch 2 too right besides the new Pro controller for the Nintendo Switch 2? Because I wonder if both of them are nice and do have some differences between them that makes each of them nice to have depending on the game that I might play... Or is the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller so much better and I should save the money I've to pay for the NS (OLED) and the Pro controller and just get a Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED) besides the regular Nintendo Switch 2 (LED)... I mean that makes more sense right?
Anyway I think that's it for now... Besides smh at Nintendo for not having any 2 TB's MicroSD Express cards out yet forcing me to get the 1 TB one :/
I love my Switch OLED; I still use it to this day (got it since launch).
However if the choice is between that and NS2 then certainly you must go with the newest generation of hardware. The boosted performance for Switch 1 games makes NS1 seem antiquated lol
If the LCD screen of NS2 matters to you then wait a couple more years to see if Nintendo’s gonna release an OLED model.
Personally I think the NS2 screen’s fine (it’s big af which is real nice), but it’s the short battery duration that’s a turnoff for me as someone who primarily plays Nintendo systems portably.
Hopefully a new future NS2 model adds at least 1 extra hour of battery life.
As for the Pro controllers, the two are quite similar; although the newest one comes with major differences: two rear buttons, smoother a***og sticks and HD Rumble 2.
The first Pro controller still feels great to use so you can stick with that when playing on NS2 (you should know that the NS1 Pro controller CANNOT wake up the NS2 system from sleep mode unfortunately).
If you really want an OLED model over the original LCD one then best you can do is hope for NS2 to sell below Nintendo’s expectations, which would force them to put out a new model quicker lmao
devs if they can get their games on here should def capitalize on this drought rn
games like star wars outlaw are pretty much getting a second wind in sales and attention just off word of mouth and switch 2 owners looking for games to play. legit didnt hear about this game at all last year either lol

It depends on how much you really wanna play the switch really. Im not sure we'll get an oled model anytime soon if ever due to the scarcity of 8 inch 120hz oled screens, something would have to drastically change there in the coming years.
If you really wanna enter the ecosystem id just get the switch 2 + its pro controller, you can do anything you could on switch 1 already, the screen isnt much worse than an oled, and you get the added value of switch 2 games to come in the future, Nintendo switch 2 editions and the random free patches to existing switch 1 games. You can always trade in the led switch 2 for the oled model if that drops.
I don't have the pro controller 2 but ive seen a lot of people say its one of the greatest controllers ever made so its probably good, you can watch some reviews on youtube. The pro controller 1 was great as well tho and a bit cheaper, so you can go with that too but without the benefit of turning the console on with the home button.
Having Yoshi in SMG2 and how they transposed him in a 3D platformer was an absolute stroke of genius, made possible by Wii’s IR-pointer feature; that alone easily gives SMG2 an edge over SMG1.
Where the implementation of the Wii Remote felt gimmicky as hell in SMG1 (e.g. shaking the remote and collecting Star Bits.. really Miyamoto?), in SMG2 it was a necessity and brilliant in execution.
I agree with all of this, and i'll add the level design is superior in basically every way. This game felt like the perfect blend of the 2d course based and 3d collectathon style level design, in a way that Mario 3d world and land never did. I don't think there's a single even mediocre galaxy, they're all hits, and a lot of them are so memorable.
And id argue its one of the most challenging Mario games, especially when collecting green stars and that final special world.

Just depends if you want to play Switch 1 games with original hardware or not. If that’s worth it to you, then yeah, get the SWOLED.
If you want the best bang for your buck, Switch 2 is the way to go since it’s backwards compatible with 99% of Switch 1 games
The Wii plays GameCube games so why would anyone buy a GameCube? But people still buy GameCubes cus people love original hardware.
Just depends how much of a purist you are
I love GameCube and switch 1 but I rather play GameCube games on Wii and Switch 1 games on Switch 2 cus it’s easier to have one system out that plays 2 generations of games
The SWOLED vs Switch 2 LCD screen debate is interesting
Yeah the SWOLED screen is objectively a better screen than Switch 2’s screen. But I don’t think it’s THAT much better
I have the OG switch 1 and I didn’t have the urge to drop $400 on an OLED when it dropped. Like I said, that OLED screen is nice af
But when the eventual Switch 2 OLED version eventually drops, I doubt I’ll wanna upgrade what we have now

After maining Switch OLED for years, I went back to the original Switch LCD for fun and I was pleasantly surprised at how the old screen didn’t bother me in the slightest.
Some people think they can’t go back to non-OLED after experiencing OLED, but I didn’t think it was a big deal
One thing that did seem like an actual downgrade to me on the original Switch was the larger bezel, so with that said, I hope a future NS2 revision comes with a thinner bezel like Switch OLED did.

The S2 panel is fantastic imo
uhhh i think getting a switch oled now hinges on if you are going to get a switch 2 or not
assuming you dont have either, personally i would just get the switch 2 just for the sake of future proofing and having the certain switch 1 games run better on there. but IF you are playing the waiting game for the switch 2 (looking for worthwhile games to drop for it) you could maybe get the oled now and just resell it down the line to shave off some of the price on the switch 2.
im not really sure what the resell value of the switch oled is because after a quick search before typing this up, im seeing a lot of oled switches go for sub $200 ngl.
for pro controllers, unless you really want the gamechat button, mic support, and wake the console up when you pick the controller up, i legit think you could get by just getting the first pro controller used for way less off ebay/mercari. i think $85 or however much nintendo is charging for the pro controller 2 is ludicrous for a controller that is virtually the same as the first besides the features i listed above.
Well then I guess I'll get the Nintendo Switch 2 and its Pro controller and save up for the Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED)
I guess owning the Pro controller for the Nintendo Switch to use it on the Nintendo Switch 2 isn't worth it since the new Pro controller is much better overall right?
Well thanks for the help fam.
Now let me see what the other replies I got did say
@AKA_SB So basically I should get the Nintendo Switch 2 and its Pro controller and then wait for the Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED) and get it as well and then I am good until the Nintendo Switch 3 is out... Alright gotcha fam
But please let me know when the 2 TB's MicroSD Express card is out though!
@Stardust Yeah makes sense. I guess I'll then get the Nintendo Switch 2, its Pro controller, a case for it with a screen protector and then either get the 1 TB MicroSD Express card and just delete every game I do finish on it or deal with the 256 GB's memory it comes with until the 2 TB's MicroSD Express card is finally out during late 2025 or some time in 2026... But I guess if I've to wait until mid-late 2026 for it then I might get the 1 TB one then

nah i think the switch 1 pro controller is better if you wanna save some money because the switch 2 pro controller is damn near the same thing
The S2 panel is fantastic imo
It's pretty good but let's not glaze a non mini-LED / OLED panel
nah i think the switch 1 pro controller is better if you wanna save some money because the switch 2 pro controller is damn near the same thing
If you’re buying a new pro controller, the s2 version is only $10 more and its significantly better imo

im talking used though, i bought one for $34 off mercari and its in near perfect condition + no stick drift

Well it (The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller) doesn't cost that much more than the Nintendo Switch one so it's alright... So I'll get it
I might get the Nintendo Switch one in the future to add it to my future collection of Nintendo stuff though

My guy just wants to have a discussion that’s all
i suspected this when cronos dropped on here and the exclusive deal was running out but its rumors bubbling that silent hill 2 remake might get a switch 2 port
Bought a 3DS
Never owned one. Aside from Switch it's the only Nintendo handheld I've ever owned.
Got a lot to play. :mariolaptop:

I would opt for getting the switch 2 now, it might be a few years till we get an upgrade model. An OLED screen that is vrr/hdr/120hz compatible for a mobile system just isn’t cost effective atm.
Another option since you’ve never owned a switch would be to cop a switch oled now to enjoy the robust library and then cop the switch 2 oled whenever that drops in the future
just some food for thought fam. if you’re gonna get the switch 2 then definitely grab pro controller 2

I never had one either lol but have always debated getting one. I know the modding scene is fire and the library is great
I think they started to go up in price recently too
