nah i felt like that added humor to such a formative and dark moment in peggy's life. s*** was hilarious but still sad cause peggy was in the frame the entire time realizing she cant trust her father

yea i can respect that he didnt say one peep to nobody. he was a real g till the end and had to pay the price for it: dying alone

or not?? that ambiguity in that final shot had me like

Is there ambiguity to it? it felt it reflected on when Jimmy didn’t close the door when the met and slept at the same place, you see a shot of him looking at it, thought it meant something to him

yea i think jimmy did that cause he didnt trust frank at the time so he wanted to sleep with one eye open and hear every move coming from outside the door.

so i figure frank picked up that habit. because frank still thought he was a g and he didnt want that feeling of being apart of something to fade, or because he was hopeful enough to leave the door open for his daughters to come in for christmas. either way it was a lonely ass ending. and frank didnt believe in finality. bro didnt wanna be cremated cause its "too final" smh. bro really graspin onto that second chance

It’s crazy too cuz I’ve had so many debates with people about the nuance of what Sheeran truly feels at the end. I thought he truly regretted everything he had done at the end and was just hiding it from others because he wanted to protect his image (“everyones dead. Who are you protecting?” - fbi )

But yeah like you said, it seems like he truly might not have cared. I don’t know if I believe that because it’s clear he is super regretful about what he did to Hoffa since the entire film revolves around Hoffa. Hell, Sheeran literally says he was as big as the Beatles. Perhaps that in of itself is Sheeran wanting us to be impressed that he knew him?

That relationship gets super complicated in the final moments of the film. Sheeran is clearly someone who follows orders and believes that’s how one should live life and that becomes abundant when he says sorry to his daughters even though he doesn’t understand why he should be sorry or when he says he doesn’t feel anything for Hoffas family. Once everyone is dead, he just tries to follow God. I think he’s scared of isolation because maybe that makes him see the weight of his decisions?

I definitely think he regrets it all.

The scene with the nurse where he asks if she knew who that was (Hoffa) and she replies with "No I don't".

I think that's when it hits Frank that if one of the most popular person in America isn't remembered in today's time, who will remember me?

The de-aging tech only works so well so Deniro looks 55 at the start but Pesci acts like he's 20.
"Hey kid" he says to a man collecting aarp

Yeah for the story I got it but it felt like thematically Idk.

Something about Chucky lying about his own bullshit not realizing he's being used in a scheme of bullshit.

Like he lying and they was lying

it never said or implied Chucky was lying lmfao. think the message lay more so in how Chucky didn’t even know what kind of fish it was that he picked up and brought to the guy. he never asked, he just followed orders. just like old Frank Sheeran, eh?

Yeah he lost everything, i mean it is about some fame because yeah he did get some award, so there is that will of recognition but everyone’s dead and none of his daughters wants to see him, it’s more personal
