According to Questlove, J Dilla’s ‘Don’t Cry’ was made for his mom shortly before he passed away from Lupus

(If I recall correctly. Someone correct me if I’m wrong)

Yeah its a split album. From what i understand Kember was in the throes of a heroin addiction and there was creative friction too

Theres a book by one of their bassists that i want to read one day. Called something like “playing the bass with three left hands”

The Deadwood Divine was an acoustic emo project active in the mid 90s, consisting of Tom LoMacchio.

The Deadwood Divne’s last EP would release in 1998, with an eerily titled A side ‘To Wander and To Fade’

2 years later, Tom LoMacchio would release a split with Rob and The Pinhole Stars. ‘Farewell’ would oddly enough be the last ever track he would release, until he returned in 2014 with further Deadwood Divine music.

Not a song, but the liner notes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s 2003 album Yanqui U.X.O. features a page linking all major record labels to the military-industrial complex, indirectly linking them to the various conflicts in the Middle East

Mike Shinoda rewrote the verses dozens of times since the band kept rejecting each version he wrote. Eventually, the frustrations of writing informed the content of the song and that’s why the first line is “Here we go for the hundredth time”

An example of an older version of the song with different verses

In 2011, Lil Wayne would reach out to Lil B during the recording of Sorry 4 The Wait.

What followed would be an all time classic:

Travis originally had this beat and planned to use it but accidentally played it when he was in the studio with Jay and he wanted it immediately

I cannot imagine what Travis would do on this

Travis wouldn’t have said “twerk Miley Miley twerk”

He also wouldn’t have said “when I was talking instagram, last thing you wanted was your picture snapped”
