Amazing list btw. New World, Thin Red Line, Heat, Godfather and Goodfellas are all films I would seriously consider for a position in the top 10. Hopefully will be able to catch Sweet Smell of Success on the big screen next year.

Scorpio Rising is good af. I strongly recommend checking a handful of Kenneth Anger's short films on youtube for anyone who isn't already familiar!

    About to start The Leopard

    Also, my ballot would be:

    • Tokyo Twilight (1957)
    • Persona (1966)
    • Morgiana (1972)
    • Céline and Julie Go Boating (1974)
    • Zerkalo (1975)
    • Opening Night (1977)
    • Sans soleil (1983)
    • The Watermelon Woman (1996)
    • Yi Yi (2000)
    • Syndromes and a Century (2006)

    Extremely tough

    I would go with:

    Stalker
    Lawrence of Arabia
    There Will Be Blood
Once Upon A Time in The West
    Barry Lyndon
    Seven Samurai
    Aguirre, The Wrath of God
    Vertigo
    Hero
    The Revenant

    The Revenant?
I’ve never met a Revenant stan before in my life

Revenant I could interchange with any of my top 4 Malick movies tbh.

It's absolutely beautiful, that's my main praise for it. The revenge narrative (done well) and Leo's best performance.

I always struggle with these lists because idk if I should prioritize the 10 movies that had the most significant impact on me or the 10 I’ve seen that have a reasonable claim to being the best movie I’ve ever seen

I’m saying this to preemptively justify the wedding singer being in my top 10

These are interchangeable, but below is my snippet of the personal canon:

    • A Matter of Life and Death (1946) dir. The Archers
    • Les Trois couronnes du matelot (1983) dir. Raul Ruiz
    • The Killer (1989) dir. John Woo
    • My Darling Clementine (1946) dir. John Ford
    • The Hourglass Sanatorium (1973) dir. Wojciech Has
    • 8½ (1963) dir. Federico Fellini
    • Greed (1924) dir. Erich von Stroheim
    • The Hole (1998) dir. Tsai Ming-liang
    • L'Avventura (1960) dir. Michelangelo Antonioni
    • Until the End of the World (1991) dir. Wim Wenders

Entirely reflective on the personal impact and what I consider chefs kiss cinema.
