You can still redownload your content, shutting down the storefront doesn’t cut you off, it just means they’re not accepting sales on the ps3 anymore

And they didn’t shut them down yet, July 2027 is the shutoff date for purchases

Nintendo did this with the Wii, you can’t keep a store open forever, but you can still redownload your Wii purchases 20 years later so there’s nothing to worry about. Just fearmongering at this point.

We will see how long they offer that because their own language said it's only to "to ease the transition" and if they can resell the titles later, they will. The stores are shutting down in phases, starting as early as this August in Latin regions, so it's not this far-off event. And Sony isn't Nintendo so idk how much is gained estimating their future actions off of their competitor's current ones.

Sony is rumored to be doing this too... But not as soon as Microsoft if this is indeed dropping next week.

And well discs will still be there until January 2028 so we still got like 18 months left.

But yeah Microsoft did the BC thing better though... But the PS6 should still be able to play PS4-PS5 games and what else was downloaded on the PS4-PS5 and is so far still rumored that you can buy a Blu-Ray disc for it to at least play your PS4-PS5 games that are on a disc or more.

The issue here, though, is all of this is just rumored with Sony while Microsoft included a transitional system in their initial planning and press releases. Sony could've announced a similar system a week or so ago but they clearly favored signalling the end of discs to us (and shareholders) and retrofitting their factories for AI micro lenses instead.

Yeah true... But apparently so does this Xbox program/thing not support Xbox/Xbox 360 discs and it's even said that once that disc is converted on Project Helix so can't it be done on another one as that license is tied to the console it got converted on or else so will that user lose the license/access to that game once it's sold to another person... But we'll see if this is true or false soon hopefully.

But yeah I guess Nintendo might be the only company selling physical media in the future so far while Sony and Microsoft will stop doing that in 2028 etc.

Anyway it's going to be interesting to see what happens in the future in regards to physical games etc.
