This had so much potential to be a grounded thriller about UFO disclosure and so many moments to truly delve into themes of faith and humanity's reaction to something as monumental as existence of ET.
It started off like that but very quickly I realised that it wasn't gonna be that type of film and it turned into your standard Spielberg cheesefest (some of which I like btw), with "go here do that" plot lines and bumbling idiot FBI/DoD agents.

Figured. Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming UFO film will probably be more grounded.
I have a cousin who is a former intelligence officer that works for Lockheed and a friend who is a Congressional staffer now and they’re surprised how indifferent the public has been to what’s been going in Congress.
Takes a lot to shock the public anymore. We so overloaded with news, crises, and distractions that if the allegations end up being true, something that profound will struggle to hold people’s attention.
Seeing in a few hours.
I hope I’m not let down by early hype again.
How was it?
This wasn’t really hitting for me.
It’s not particularly thrilling. The religious themes and aspects should have been cut. They have no purpose and they aren’t profound or deep at all. Emily Blunt’s story is the most interesting part.
The male protagonist boring, the antagonist boring.
There is a more interesting movie in this. It’s attempting a blockbuster astrosociology piece, but it doesn’t work. 3 Body Problem is way way better in that regard
This, the Furious and Toy Story all in a week.
Meanwhile Coppola flipping his mansion cause he still paying for Megaflopolis

The more I think about it, the more I think I will give it another shot. I was just expecting something different the whole time. I think some criticisms I have will be retracted and some I know will remain.
