It really be so weird getting on Twitter and seeing so many J Cole fans try to tout it as one of the greatest double albums of all time, or the best release of 2026...at its best, it is okay. The biggest problem with it, IS the fact that it's a double album and there's hardly anything about it that justifies it. The album is too f***in long and samey.

The Cult of Dreamville really do live in their own world of delusions.

Album needed to be cut down and J Cole just isn't a good song maker. Overall the project feels underwhelming and like something's missing

But this album convinced me that when it comes to the more technical aspects of rap (flow, rhyme schemes etc), just the ability to put together dope rhymes - he's better than Drake and Kendrick

Underwhelming through and through. Actually, it's not that different from some of his lesser works, only more bloated/self-important

He's definitely shown up on features and Off Season got some gems. I don't go back to MDL because I can't listen to the nigga rapping tough knowing what happened around that time. Huntin Wabbitz beat fire though

Also, rapping tough to non-targets is... interesting

Crazy thing is, MDL is his best showcase of his rapping technical rapping ability for a full project but the beef definitely had made it a harder listen now

But yeah the man gave Ab Soul and Daylyte a run for their money

I really dont get the "its too long" critique.

Its 2 separate albums in one package, you dont need to listen to both albums all at once.
