Best review I've seen for The Fall Off is that it will not change your opinion on J Cole whatsoever

But if someone is looking at and evaluating an album as a whole, it's fair to say it goes on too long and is dragged down by weaker tracks. Same thing with Scorpion and Donda, they'd be better albums if the rappers trimmed the fat and cut some of the songs

Its more similar to SBX/TLB than it is to Scorpion just from the same artist. If future released ST and Hndrxx in one package, I wouldn't be like "this is too long of an album"

You can evaluate it as whole forsure but length being the criticism doesn't really make that much sense because it's still 2 seperate albums with seperate narratives, thesis and conclusions

Middle child is better

Cole Songs on revenge of the dreamers 1 are better

A lot of verses on Might delete later are better

the off-season is Lowkey better

I haven’t replay any songs from the album since I finished listening and it took me 2 days. The only memorable song is the let out and it sounds like something a MAGA rapper would make.

Because one actually feels like two distinct albums with completely varied sounds.

The other is just 2 hours of j Cole being j Cole

Speakerboxx/TLB isn't an apt comparison at all. That's two albums by 2 different rappers released together

It's more similar to Mr Morale - one album released by one rapper but split into 2 discs. And J Cole's album is 30 minutes longer while not saying/exploring nearly as much

It's delivered as one album, The Fall Off. I can't feel that the album drags so some tracks could've been cut from disc 1, some tracks could've been cut from disc 2 and that single disc would've been a stronger album? That's not a valid criticism?

it's a a good album, but I really don't think rappers should ever announce they're making a final album and make a big deal about it. not only is it not true most of the time but the quality of the album never matches the hype
