wow you’ve wasted a few more years of your life on a forum than me your so cool bro.

My problem with some of the new/younger artists that get pushed on here goes back to a comment I made a couple of years ago where
I’m just tired of artists/rappers getting pushed on to me as something “new” and originating a fresh new sound or style and it really be a derivative of the last wave or a nigga that been buzzing for a couple years but didn’t get that same promotion.

I agree with this statement any examples can’t think of any off the top of my head

I don’t have any particular names but this take really started around the whole PlugNB style that got promoted on here. Nothing against the music I actually some of the rappers that were said to lead that wave. But yeah
Im with you on this. Threads about newer artists and their album hardly make it past 3 pages most of the time
it's true. niggas making actually effortful posts about new or even old music get ignored while the same crop flood kendrick drake threads with the same bullshit ad nauseam
i still find plenty of new music through here, just need to filter out the slop threads + utilize the block button. artist threads are usually the move if you want more music discussion
can't recommend the block button enough. i mustve blocked about 20% of the userbase atp. only problem is you still see their threads somehow
Good music is good music, bad music is bad music. That's all there is to it. It's all about standards, and those standards are very low for some of yall due to the not so talented artists yall are growing up with. It's completely normal for ppl who grew up with artists that came up during the 2010-2014 era to dismiss the bullshit that's being released today

young people on discord now... not as good for archive discussion like forums
im not even old but goddamn discord f***ing sucks, and ive felt that way for years. worst ui experience ive ever had the displeasure of using. gotta go out of your way to just see whether someone has replied to you or not. plus them discord kids are f***ing weird bro. they speak like theyre truly brainrotted with the dumbest most unfunny low resolution post ironic cat memes ever. it's like every server too, it's like a cultural thing. that and tiktok s*** is some of the first set of things making me feel old but at the same time in this case im like f*** them kids which i usually am not like lol

Most of these underground rappers sound like 2013 matti baybee with some tweaks and different beats

yeah there are actually a lot of new sounds out there but too often it's some opium runoff getting pushed as goated

unsearchable dogshit and so much that wouldve previously been covered by forums is moving to this horrible platform where you need an account just to see anything

Right! Like idc how old I get imma be 50 bumping artists younger than me. But I would like to see more of these new sounds or styles pushed. Or at least if it’s not a new sound a different approach or an interesting rapper. It’s nothing about alot of these “underground” niggas that make me wanna press play.
Gen Z rappers ain’t making no universally known impact lil bro
Part of it ain’t necessarily their fault bc mono culture is dying but part of it is though. A lot of s*** from new artists is either niche and doesn’t cast a wide enough net for people to care or low effort/formulaic/gimmicky
It’s not like it’s a whole bunch of legendary Gen Z rappers that we are actively ignoring lol
Maybe that’s the problem: we care about being legendary and yall just be wanting to vibe fr. I get it but to me that’s not hip-hop
No it was not LMAO
It 10000% was you literally weren’t allowed to post in music sxn if you were a struggle rapper and cs would go days without even a single post. The handful of success stories like c robin aren’t really representative

You’re British why do you keep saying “yall” don’t ever reply to one of my threads again b**** ass nigga.

right yeah the search function is so garbage i aint even mention that part. so much valuable information is just gonna get deleted like it never existed once so many of these servers die off

I mean the site is named after Kanye whose debut album dropped in 2004. Someone 20 years old wouldn’t have been born when the guy this site is named after came out. Of course the site age is going to lean older.
All the artists that people in our 30s like.. we remember when people were saying it wasn’t “real hip hop”. Just like the new stuff gets s*** on now. Most people stay rooted to some degree on what they got into music for and when trends go too far off that you just get disinterested.
