They announced this week they are no longer porting their games to PC. They are saying it’s because of low sales but the real reason is this new Xbox

@NewYorkCity @Nikedufflebag the reason people choose consoles over PCs is their plug and play nature and their affordability. This new xbox would have none of those and would be stuck in an awkward limbo where it inherits the worst of each option. The one thing it could have going for it is if its a relatively affordable alternative to a gaming pc

This will still be plug and play

Xbox should respond by no longer porting their games to PlayStation

Between Xbox still working on their own portable console in-house and my huge Xbox library being carried over to Project Helix, I’m lowkey starting to feel that spark again
Don’t think Xbox will be dominating like the 360 era ever again but their commitment to future-proofing our software libraries is an enticing sell for me personally

It will be plug and play. It’s a console

PS6 will be 1k anyway. Gaming hasn’t ever really been a hobby for broke people to begin with. Things are only getting more expensive

PS6 exclusives will be $90-$100 base price

Switch to "Console Mode" to access our library maybe

I know it’s going to be all-digital since it’s Xbox who we’re talking about lmao
I just hope there’s gonna be an external disc drive we can connect to it to play old physical Xbox games.

Wait til you realize that it will be free to play online no subscription. Then Sony has a choice to make . Steam , epic game store , Xbox game pass . Possibly mods as well

it won't be. it will be expensive because it can play games from other platforms where they won't make any money from it. (not to mention hardware shortages) the reason the consoles were sold at a loss to begin with is because xbox could make up that money from software sales. they'll need to charge more for it now

Think I'm actually done after PS5, MAYBE PS6. Already feel like I don't got time for games, deadass think my current backlog can last me the rest of my life

Like I think about all the games I own but haven't played and it gives me anxiety. S*** feels like a job on it's own

At this point, I’ll think I’ll always be a gen behind.

I have a ps5 + switch. I have no desire for the switch 2 as my switch backlog is still pretty large. Same goes for the inevitable PS6 release and my current ps4/5 backlog

Same, I just got a PS5 a couple of months ago. Xbox 360 was my first console and I'm cautious about getting a console at launch ever since my RROD experiences I don't mind waiting, there's enough games to hold me over while the price drops

Think I might eventually build a PC for GameCube emulation or get a Nintendo console (mainly for multiplayer games like Mario Kart/Mario Party). Then either a PS5/6 and that's it

  • Thought they were done making consoles for real this time

It will not be all digital .

Series X physicals sold like crap (I don’t have the hard data to back this up) so it would be shocking to see a built-in disc drive still for the next-gen console

But I guess since it’s going to be a premium-priced system (as Sarah Bond said), might as well include a disc drive to appease the backwards-compatibility crowd
