This thing had Sony shaking in their boots realizing their mid exclusives were about to be on Xbox since it’ll have steam and epic store

They just dropped PC support together

Fortunately it’ll only apply to games made by studios Sony owns. Those are once in a blue moon. This console will be the best ever made by far if they nail the execution

Console with steam access and mods is the dream scenario

kind of rètarded to have your first party titles have a 30% cut go directly to Steam AND be playable on your opposition’s console tho so I get it

  • Theyll stop supporting it 2 years in
    Just overpriced nothing

  • If I buy it it's gonna be bad but if I don't buy it it's gonna be good

Series X physicals sold like crap (I don’t have the hard data to back this up) so it would be shocking to see a built-in disc drive still for the next-gen console

But I guess since it’s going to be a premium-priced system (as Sarah Bond said), might as well include a disc drive to appease the backwards-compatibility crowd

It will have a disc drive which in many ways separates it from a lot of pc market that has strayed away from disc drives . Disc drives is what keeps a consoles soul. An all digital console with how Sony has been doing dynamic pricing and other aspects is soul less.

Xbox shaping up to shift some people just needs 700-1000 price tag. Free online multiplayer. Backwards compatibility. Mods .

If xbox cared about their cut from 3rd party purchases they wouldn’t have allowed pc storefronts on the thing. They must be all in on being a 3rd party publisher which begs the question why this console exists. Are they gonna sell it for a profit like Nintendo? That works for Nintendo because it’s cheap to make and they can rinse their consumer base whereas this seems cutting edge with a prohibitive price point. Xbox is always gambling on something. It’s commendable but it never works out and Microsoft end up bailing them out

PC gaming has been seeing more growth than traditional console lately so there might be a market for this new Xbox console/PC hybrid

Xbox was originally perceived as a way for Microsoft to have control over our living rooms and by extension our lifestyle (lmao yup they’re an evil corporation) so I don’t think they wanna abandon that endeavour so easily, especially now that they have a whole fleet of gaming studios to take care of.
But yeah, AI integration for Xbox seems inevitable.

Idk HC this is still the same company that is 100% pro-digital (I guess Nintendo and Sony would be too cus they make more money via their digital stores), but Xbox has been pushing all-digital way more than the other two.

Just look at the poor state of Series X physicals for Xbox’s 1st-party games in the last couple of years and you could see that they gave up on that.

Because a console that doesn’t exist was going to be all digital ? They’ve been huge on disc preservation for backwards compatibility. Going no disc would remove that . They have a deal with GameStop

Wait til you realize that it will be free to play online no subscription. Then Sony has a choice to make . Steam , epic game store , Xbox game pass . Possibly mods as well

Your hopes are way too high for this company

  • People aren't excited for this because people don't know what to expect from it or what they would even want from a new console at this point, at least the casual gamer. I think it's a symptom of gaming becoming a bit more niche, and the fact that this sounds like a gaming pc.

  • Plus this gen has been very uneventful, I think when GTA 6 drops, we begin to wind down this gen, but right now people are like "WTF DOES A NEXT GEN LOOK LIKE?"

Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console.
Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!

Is this real? If so... Interesting stuff.

So I guess this thing's specs is the dev kit version of it right? If so I guess it sounds like it might have less than 32 GB's of RAM or not more than that.

Well I guess this sounds more realistic and not as powerful as some thought it would be... But it's double the RAM compared to XSX so yeah the RAM part is what I expected it to at least have... So okay not bad tbh.

And "Xbox PC" huh? So I guess MS was very sneaky about this and kind of "leaked" it in their upcoming games trailers already back in 2025 and maybe even 2024 as well.

But I guess this doesn't have everything in it since there's no talk about AI or other important stuff so I guess that will leak or be revealed during this year and in 2027 as well if the console launches in 2027 and if not then in 2028 for sure.

This is a good idea but they’re kinda late, many people already established a big library of ps4 and ps5 and now switch 1/2 games over the past decade

I can’t see it appealing to the avg console user or non gamer, however this might appeal to the PC audience who would otherwise want to upgrade their pcs but will go with this instead because of the good price

Question is how will they make that price actually good in the middle of a ram crisis

Yeah this doesn't appeal to me for sure... I'll just get a PC in this case besides owning a PS6 (Once it's out) and then a Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED) and I'll have everything I need.

But still this is kind of interesting at least though... But still not worth it for me personally.

And yes this thing won't be cheap... It'll at least cost between $1000 - $1500... Maybe even $2000 - $2500 in this current RAM situation and especially with Microsoft not been prepared for it like Sony or even Nintendo is.
