It has led some to falsely believe that her fanbase isn’t significantly larger than theirs, but instead just more dedicated.

But her pure sales and tour attendance are such outliers that it just sounds like bullshit cope to me.

I think both definitely do. Ophelia is her biggest on-release hit since probably 1989 and Opalite is outpacing where Fortnight was at this point by quite a distance, and that was a lead single.

The perception that her new albums don’t have longevity doesn’t mean that they’re flopping, just that she isn’t completely peerless like she is in touring and physical sales, but even then it’s important to point out that practically no one else in that arena has a discography that comes close to hers in terms of volume. A lot was made about how quickly HMHAS caught up to TTPD in streams, but Billie doesn’t even have close to 100 songs to her name, Taylor has ~300.
