Lowkey my favorite type of J Cole verse is stuff like The London / Blow For Blow where he's rapping really well and without pretensions on a modern beat.
I think if he linked with hook writers he could make a good project. Even if he did a collab album with like future i think it would be great.
two six the beat is good and verses were good just long and the hook was lacking.
100% that would be excellent
"What If" sounds nice, both the beat and especially the chorus, and bars are solid. But like the song's concept is so embarrassing/sophomoric it's hard to look past it
Ditto that I Still Love Her song where some of the bars about Atlanta etc are clever but "song about my relationship with a girl... a girl named The Rap Game" is still corny bullshit
Yea thats why his feats have been good cause the bars are there. But his last two albums makes middle child look like an accident like timing of release was perfect and everything is there.

Real ball knower
love that verse except the tasting the rainbow line lol
I haven't seen so many losers so desperate to change the narrative since November 2024
imagine hearing a long album and being like “i enjoy every song on here, i wish some of them were deleted from existence though”
that sounds insane, right?
on the contrary, when listening to a short album, “i enjoy every song on here, i wish there were more” is a completely reasonable thing to say
constraint is an art form, but so is excess, and neither is more valid than the other
damn sab this might the smartest thing you ever wrote lol
