Couple of years? Currently I don't think he can afford to disappear for a few years, he hasn't reached that stage of super-stardom

yea I disagree I think especially after one more album. and at this point he has a stronger following than most pop artists, we'll be here when he come back

The video description, translated by DeepL.A lot of nuance lost in the translation but you can piece it together.

    Tetsuro Oda:
Today, "Midnight Pretenders" by Aran Chiko.
This song is from an album called "Floating Space" released in 1983. This song was not cut as a single at that time.
For some reason, this song has been secretly popular on YouTube for a while now.
It has already been viewed more than 7 million times.
And it's called "The Weeknd," which is...you know...for our generation.
When you say "Weekend," you may think of Koutarou Yamamoto, but that's not true. It is not "Cape Tour" (laughs).
The Weeknd is, frankly speaking, one of the most successful black musicians in recent years.

He sampled this song for his new album, "Out Of Time".
In the last few years, 80's city music city pops in Japan. It's becoming very popular and noteworthy worldwide, though.

However, the album "Floating Space" by Aran Tomoko was also an album that was known only to those in the know, and it is very strange that this song, which was not even cut as a single, has attracted so much attention.

When I was a teenager, I was quite a disco lover.
In those days of disco, there was a song called "Cheek Time. I think those of you who know about it know that.
The ballads that were played at that time...I don't know how to say it...the type of ballads that used a lot of falsetto, like the ballads of The Delfonics, The Chi-Lites, The Stylistics, and so on, were the type of ballads that I liked. I liked it very much.
This song, "Midnight Pretenders," is a melody that contains the essence of that kind of music.

It is known by people who don't know about it through YouTube and social networking sites across borders. And when they are sampled, they are recognized... I really feel that this is the "modern era".
As a composer and someone who was involved in this project, I am very happy that my work has transcended time and is being recognized by the public.

Even though Out of Time is my favorite song on the album, I think Is There Someone Else is always gonna be the staple song I associate Dawn FM with.
